Negative on days 5-7, now positive again?

I tested positive with an LFD test on Tuesday last week, and had symptoms that same day. A PCR from Friday came back positive. My son became unwell on Sunday and has also now tested positive.

I was improving and my LFD tests were negative Sunday, Monday, and this morning. Today I've gotten much worse again and my cough is terrible, and now I'm testing positive again. Has anyone else had this?

Did you still just end your isolation after Day 10?

My husband did too, day 5,6 were neg, day 8 positive He rang 119 and they just said isolate until day 10. Don't do anymore lateral flows.

Hope you feel better soon

Thanks. Was your husband still symptomatic on Day 10?

I'm feeling the worst I've felt so far, and work won't take me back without risk assessments if I'm still testing positive on Day 10 (I work in social care - not frontline but as a visiting professional)

Yes I had this too. Faint positives days 5 and 6, feeling better. Fully negative day 7. Days 8 to 11 strong positive lines and feeling worse than the start.

I wonder how many people do early release and then are still infectious for several days longer?

Pixies74 · 09/02/2022 10:33

Yes, I've had similar. Had a slight sore throat Wednesday, tested positive on Thursday, with mild symptoms, minor sore throat, bit dizzy and sick.

Symptoms stayed mild/started to feel a bit better, and on Sunday had the faintest squinter of a line.

Monday and yesterday have had bad cold symptoms and lines were the thickest strongest lines I've ever seen!

Spoke to Test & Protect - they suspect reinfection and I have to start my isolation again 😩

That's awful for you, OP. Worried now, DH and myself are on different days, but our LFTs are showing up stronger than yesterday.

I also felt much worse after day 10. I'm day 13 now and still not back at work.

Our tests got lighter on day 6 but darker again on day 8... Wondered if we passed it around the house again and higher viral load again now but we don't feel ill.. Maybe it's just coming out of us more now, not sure!!

That's kind of what I think.. I didn't have any typical 'cold' symptoms until Monday (day 5) when I suddenly became really snotty/mucosy/sneezy and had a really thick line. Hoping it's my body getting rid of the virus! (And I guess therefore more contagious than when I just felt a bit rough?!)
Pixies74 · 09/02/2022 11:43

Though I don't really want to be more contagious as DH and DS have both avoided it so far from both myself and DD (who tested positive last Monday) 🤣
