Burnt toast

I had covid in October. Unpleasant but not awful. Thankfully, I was double jabbed and the vaccine probably did its job.

I lost my sense of smell for a few weeks, but then it gradually returned. I thought that was it then, and felt lucky not to have got long covid etc.

All is still fine, except I very frequently feel like I can smell burnt toast. Is this a thing after covid or is it likely to be unconnected?

I also have a constant, very low grade sore throat. Barely there, but just hanging around. Could that be post covid? It dates roughly back to that time.

I’m the same. Except I only had covid last month. I keep getting phantom whiffs of burning/burnt toast. It’s most disconcerting.

Interesting, thanks @broccolibush. Sounds like it probably is a thing then. 🤔

I have had the burnt smell and taste but gone now. It's a very common long term effect after covid, lasts a long time for some people.

I've also had the niggly throat.

I had covid in early December.

Smelling burnt toast can by a symptom of something more serious than covid. Take a look on Google and see if you have any symptoms of anything else- see a doctor if it continues

I have smelt burnt food for the past 3 days but when I go out into fresh air it goes. I don't know if it is the house or a smelling issue. I bought some lemon and orange essential oil to retain my sense of smell.

I had the smell of burnt toast for a few days when I had covid a year ago. It was constant. In the car, in the fresh air, in the supermarket. It went eventually and has never been back.

I’d welcome burnt toast. All I can smell is poo Grin

It is a thing. Phantom smells.
I had covid last August and fully recovered but smelled an occasional waft of smoke. Then had a cold in December and after that the smoke smell was with me all the time for about 6 weeks.
It's now back to occasional.

I could have written your post word for word!

I had covid 6 weeks ago . I was quite bad and didn't feel right for about 3/4 weeks. My sense of smell isn't fully back but for the last few days on and off i can smell like a burny smoky sort of smell. It's not anything like toast though. I've noticed stuff is also tasting funny again too 😞
