Positive LF - PCR?

Woke up with a VERY mild slightly “off” feeling in my throat so did a LF - negative, but I could see something very faint, so faint I thought I was imagining it. Did another but swabbed both throat and nose and it’s a clear positive.

Do I need a PCR? I know the rules changed.

I can’t help but think I’m going to die!! Is the fact I’m pretty much asymptomatic right now a good sign?

No you don't need a PCR but you do need to register the positive LFT

MaizeAmaze · 05/02/2022 10:06

No PCR required, except in certain circumstances.

You ought to report the positive lft. I'm guessing that will trigger a message telling you what, if anything, need doing next.

Register the lateral flow, complete the online questionnaire (or do by phone) then isolate for 10 days unless you test negative on day 5 and 6 (24hrs apart)

Are you particularly vulnerable? Have you been told by healthcare to request a pcr and specific treatment if you are positive?
Just wondering why you are jumping to thinking you are going to die (I'm NOT suggesting anyone in the above category will die either)
Do you have someone you can talk to about your anxiety

Yes, if asymptomatic, you’ll hopefully be fine. Most people seem to just be suffering with cold like symptoms.

My dh literally had a snotty nose a scratchy throat and a mild headache. He worked from home throughout his isolation

If you want to claim the £500 support grant yes you will need a pcr to confirm or they won't process your application
