Testing negative for early release?

30not13 · 04/02/2022 17:23

Where I am in UK if we test negative on days 6 & 7 we can end self isolation early.

Does that mean if I do test negative both mornings I can then go out on the morning of day 7 or is it like if you do the full 10 days it's technically day 11 you are allowed out?

Apologies for asking a daft question but I can't actually find the answer and need to know for work (if I am fit of course)

You can go out as soon as you have the second test, I think.

jusdevache · 04/02/2022 17:46

As soon as you have the consecutive second negative result you are good to go!

NothingIsWrong · 04/02/2022 18:17

As soon as you get the result - my son is currently at home, day 5 for him is Monday. So school said test early on Monday for the day 5 test and then early enough on day 6 that he will be able to get on the school bus to be in school Tuesday.

NothingIsWrong · 04/02/2022 18:17

Assuming they are both negative that is!

30not13 · 04/02/2022 18:32

Great thank you very much :)

Be prepared to get your hopes up and have them dashed again - I tested strongly positive on days 5 and 6, then faintly positive this morning on day 7. Hoping for my first negative tomorrow, but also trying to manage my expectations!

This is correct information

Dc has tested very very very faintly positive so I reckon if I do it again tonight it might just be negative by then and we can still get another in after 24hrs on Sunday then they can go to school Monday :)

Or you can leave it a little bit longer, do it early Sunday morning and then first thing Monday morning.
NothingIsWrong · 05/02/2022 16:58

Yes I would do very early Sunday and very early Monday. I will be doing exactly the same but a day later to make it as late as possible.

ChristmasCurry · 05/02/2022 17:55

Day 5 for me yesterday - strong positive.
Day 6 today today - strong positive.

Only had a sight runny nose all week, odd cough and sneeze.

altmember · 05/02/2022 18:02

I had two days of faint lines on days 5 and 6, then day 7 completely negative, then 3 days of strong positive results. Not many people genuinely get out of isolation on day 6/7.

mimi14 · 05/02/2022 18:08

DS tested negative on day 5, positive on day 6 Confused then positive all the way up to day 10.

Number109 · 05/02/2022 19:49

My 5 year old had VERY faint lines on day 5 and 6, I wouldn’t have even registered they were positive if I didn’t have negative DH tests to compare them to. I find the old style LFTs so much harder to read!

30not13 · 05/02/2022 22:45

Tested again tonight before bed, dc was negative so hoping for another Sunday before bed :)

Sorry to jump in but can someone tell me what counts as day 1?

NothingIsWrong · 06/02/2022 16:41

Day 0 is the day you test or first day of symptoms if you have them.

So G tested positive on the Wednesday, so that's day 0. Making our day 5 Monday, and he can go back to school Tuesday with a negative test on day 5 and day 6. If he continues to test positive he's in until end of Saturday which is day 10. Free after that unless he still has a temperature.

marieantoinehairnet · 06/02/2022 16:47

My DD just got away with negative on days 6/7... I have test Ed a very strong positive on day 6, knowing my luck I'll go the whole 10 days

30not13 · 07/02/2022 15:00

DC was very happy to return to school today :)
