Booster today - help me not feel crap?

I'm getting my third vaccine today for Covid (Pfizer) and don't want to feel like crap afterwards/tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips that genuinely work, please? All I've heard so far is to take paracetamol before the vax but I don't know how long before etc.

You may be ok. I had my booster and flu jab together and only had a sore arm.

ModerationInEverything · 03/02/2022 12:45

I was advised to keep well hydrated. 2l in the next 24h they said. No idea if it helped but I was fine.

Snowiscold · 03/02/2022 12:47

Don’t expect to feel crap. You might not. I felt fine. Slightly achey arm.

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 03/02/2022 12:51

I had Pfizer as my booster and felt absolutely fine - didn't even have a sore arm ( unlike my first dose). So you may be ok.

emsmar · 03/02/2022 13:00

Paracetamol, loads of water, and a wee nap! I got mine at 9am and had an afternoon nap, was great!

dalrympy · 03/02/2022 13:00

Felt crap for my first two, was fine on booster.

Teaforme123 · 03/02/2022 13:02

Just drink lots and take paracetamol. Most people seem ok with Pfizer actually. I wish I'd had it, I had moderna it was awful!

Flatandhappy · 03/02/2022 13:06

I also had Moderna. I am seriously not exaggerating that I felt worse for four days than I did after aggressive chemo, the rest of my family had Pfizer and were fine.

dementedpixie · 03/02/2022 13:07

I had a mild sore arm after my booster and that's all

CosmosLily · 03/02/2022 13:09

Alrighty well, this is giving me hope then, I'll make sure to drink a lot. The appointment is at 4 pm so will head home afterwards and chill on the sofa/go to bed early so hopefully, I'll feel fine. This is mainly for my boyfriend, he felt crap after the first two and is a big baby with feeling squiffy so I'll force some paracetamol and water down him.

I was absolutely fine as well, not even a sore arm.

FrenchyQ · 03/02/2022 13:39

I had Pfizer for my booster (had az for the first 2 and felt terrible after the first one.)Only had a slightly sore arm after the booster

itwasntaparty · 03/02/2022 13:41

Mine was fine, Pfizer. I was in bed for two days after my first AZ.

CremeEggThief · 03/02/2022 13:42

Here's a tip from the male nurse who did mine in December- don't go out on a drinking session and knock back 10 pints straight afterwards!🤣

Peachandpearl · 03/02/2022 13:43

I had horrible side effects my first two jabs, my booster was a breeze in comparison. I made sure to get a lot of rest, water and took regular paracetamol. My arm was slightly sore, but 48 hours on I forgot all about it

How about if I go out the next night and knock back 6 cocktails and 2 white wines? Cause that's my current plan, hence wanting to feel ok the next day Grin

I was fine with my third and fourth vaccine, just a bit tired (Pfizer for both and had AZ for first 2)

FinallyHere · 03/02/2022 15:01

I've heard that avoiding alcohol for a week or so before and after the jab gives your immune system the best chance to develop any immunity available.

And of course stay hydrated.

I have had all three jabs. Arranged them for a Friday so I had the weekend to recover. I noticed absolutely no reaction whatsoever.

As a PP said, if you expect to have a bad reaction, you might find it comes true.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 03/02/2022 15:05

Did you feel ill after your other vaccines? I had no side effects with any of them.

CosmosLily · 03/02/2022 15:37

Just had it and loved the guy who did it. Super straightforward, in and out and he didn't call me a baby for being scared of needles 😁 No bad reactions with the others, just a bit tired, my boyfriend was out for the count with the first and second so fingers crossed he's fine with this one.
