Faint positives - will they get stronger?

Husband has tested a strong positive since Friday. I developed a scratchy throat Thursday evening and have tested negative until this morning with a very faint positive.

We now believe that my son picked it up at school earlier in the week (his best friend has tested positive yesterday). He was feeling a bit sweaty in the night earlier in the week but we were all hot and had left the heating on too long at night so chalked it down to that. Anyways, looking back that was probably him having covid. Then he passed it to my husband who's tested a strong positive since Friday. Now I've got a faint positive (Sunday). Basically what I want to know is will a faint positive progress to a strong positive the more my covid develops? And will my sons faint positive mean he's nearing the end and likely test negative in a few days?

Yes, your positive will become darker as your viral load increases. With regards to your son, it will either get darker if he's at the beginning of his infection, or lighter if he's at the end.
