Have had a really bad cold for over a week, asthmatic, chest really hurts so assuming it’s turning into a chest infection also coughing it’s not covid as tested 😭😭. What worries me of the kids school are rife with covid and I’m feeling so run down. Anyone has covid on top of something like this. Already feel super week. I’m breastfeeding too. Bit worried I will be one of them death figures “well she did have underline health condition”.
Everyone I know with omicron have been quite poorly and I just feel so poorly.

Call your GP on Monday OP or maybe 111. You might need someone to listen to your chest and potentially have antibiotics or something.

@PinkPlantCasethank I will do, issue is they normally like to wait I swear till I’m really poorly. I use to get chest infections lots as asthmatic the last few years been better even before covid but this I can feel travelling to my chest. They just take such a long time to clear. 🙄.

Hopefully this time they’ll be a bit faster about giving you something to help.

I’m asthmatic with covid at the minute, just going into day 4 and it hasn’t gone to my chest (yet) it’s mostly still a head cold with lots of snot and sneezing.

I’m also breastfeeding, not effect on supply but I’ve been making an extra effort to keep my calories up. Tbh the worst part is the upset stomach that covid has given my baby. Makes me wish I’d lost my sense of smell.

Asthmatics don’t actually fair any worse with covid unless your asthma is very severe. Asthmatics don’t need hospital more than the non asthmatic population looking at masses of data from around the world.

Anecdotally, I have moderate asthma & every cold I have goes to my chest. I’ve had covid twice & it didn’t go anywhere near my chest! I was really surprised!

However, if you think you have an infection you need to see your doctor ASAP regardless. Chest infections with asthma are no joke. Your GP should know this. Are you coughing up crap? Have you had a fever? If your GP is a bit rubbish, I’d probably tell a white lie that you are getting fevers & need to be seen ASAP! But only if you are certain it is an infection. It’s possibly to have an extremely sore chest & horrible cough without a bacterial infection…

You need to see your GP or go to a walk in clinic to be seen so a doctor can listen to your chest. As it's a Sunday it might be worth ringing 111 for advice and they can suggest the most appropriate service in your area.

I'm also asthmatic. The chest infection I had with Covid last year was pretty mild, 111 prescribed antibiotics over the phone as I was still in my isolation period. Normal colds and flu have caused worse chest infections for me.
