Dd (12) has just tested positive on a LFT. A very strong positive, the liquid hit the test and boom.
From what I can work out, she doesn't need to do a PCR test, just isolate for 10 days / test on day 5 (Tuesday) and day 6 (Wednesday) if both negative she can go back to school on Thursday.

Me and dp just doing daily tests and going about our lives as normal.

Dd has taken herself to her room and is requesting room service 😂

Am I right, or has guidance changed again.

Thank you 😁

Yes you a right, today is day 0 on day 5 test and 6 test is both negative she can return to school. I’ve heard it’s very unlikely to be negative on day 5 though, some people show up to 90 days.

Akire · 27/01/2022 17:59

Does she have symptoms? If not LTF is fine, if she has symptoms you can still do a PCR to confirm. Plus PCR do get randomly tested for gene sequences so can pick up new versions that may be starting. But other wise like you say.

SomewhereOnlyIKnow · 27/01/2022 17:59

I thought she could go back Wednesday if negative ?

Nutrigrainygoodness · 27/01/2022 18:02

Thank you 😁

Shes got no symptoms that you would call classic covid. She's not got a temp, headache, sore throat, cough, she can still smell and taste.
She sneezed twice and declared she was off to do a test.

First day of symptoms or test is day 0 then 5 full days. So F S S M T Tuesday first negative test if you are lucky. Then second test on day 6 so say the morning then can go to school if clear. But not that many get negatives on day 5/6 so don’t hold to many plans around this being the case as you never know. Some will test positive on day 10 but after day 10 you are free negative or
Not.

Wowwellokthen · 27/01/2022 18:12

I pcr tested positive today. Lateral flows have been negative (twice daily for last 2/3 days) and are still negative this evening.

I have a sore throat, cough and feel shivery....

So day 5 test will probably be negative too....so weird.

underneaththeash · 27/01/2022 18:14

As long as you're vaccinated, yes, just lateral flow test every day.

We've had the same - massive positive for DD, except DS's are not feeling amazing, so I'm keeping them off tomorrow. DD actually is quite unwell she's only 10.

They had it in November too.

If you're not vaccinated, you need to isolate for 10 days and re-think.

Nutrigrainygoodness · 27/01/2022 18:23

@underneaththeash me and dp are both fully vaxxed thankfully.

Not holding out much hope for a day 5 negative.

Dd tested positive in October on a lft but she was negative on a PCR and didn't have symptoms. (She was testing for school).

So far I've gone upstairs with a drink, her tablet, her school bag, her dinner, her pudding. The plus side of this is I might have a toned bum by the end of the day 😂

Ds and I are currently on day 2, while dh is a couple of days ahead, so will hope for a negative test tomorrow. Teen, who has previously had delta, is trying to avoid it, but it's tough when both mum and dad have it!😬
