To end isolation early, no line whatsoever?

I'm just checking whether people are waiting until there is absolutely no line whatsoever? Not even a barely visible to the naked eye line?

I'm just checking as I'm someone who has stuck firmly to the rules the whole way through only to discover many times people haven't stuck to things completely..

I waited till there was no line. Any line at all means you're infectious.

imamumgetmeoutofhere · 27/01/2022 09:15

As long as you are negative day 5 and 6 (or 6 &7, 7&8, 7&8 etc) with the tests 24 hours apart you can leave isolation early.

JellyMouldJnr · 27/01/2022 09:17

yes, no line at all. even a very faint line is a positive, like a pregnancy test.

That's what I'm going to do, thank you. Thing is if there's still a line on 10 days you can go out anyway so does a line mean you're actually infectious still or it's just in your system still!

My dd has a faint line today. Does it tend to just keep gradually fading or can it be there one day and gone the next? Just wondering what to expect!

We found it gradually faded with dd. I waited until no line at all, with another negative test 24hrs later. Was day 8 and 9, and she'd had hardly any symptoms, just a temp for a few hrs (hence tested).

Thank you! She has some exams on Sunday..fingers crossed!

After 10 full days of isolation there is no need to get a negative test.

You can leave isolation and should stop testing.

No. First day of positive LFT/symptoms is day 0 and your isolation ends on midnight of day 10 so you can go out on day 11.

Mine was faint yesterday on day 6 and today is bright as a button! No sense nor reason for it.

Oh no! How annoying is that!

If you get a faint line on day 5/6/7/8/9/10 it means you're still infectious and need to stay in isolation (fair enough). But if you get a positive test on day 11 you're all clear and should just stop testing. Makes perfect sense...

Tiredmummyof3 · 27/01/2022 16:31

Very! I'm still not well so makes sense but also just want to get out and some fresh air! Was sure I I be negative today!!

To be fair, they have to draw the line somewhere. Some people test positive for weeks - you can't have them off work and not leaving the house for that long.

Friends DH is a theatre Dr. Can't go in with a line. So far on Day 13 and still showing up. I do wonder if they'll just request a PCR at some point instead

Emmelina · 27/01/2022 18:17

No line two days in a row.
A faint line counts as positive for initial testing so why wouldn’t it count for testing to get released?

randomsabreuse · 27/01/2022 18:21

DH is a university staff member and also needs to have a clear lft before going in. Mine was clear at 15 minutes today but there's a faint line 6 hours later.
