DD is 6, tested positive Sunday.
Noticed today she’s swallowing loudly and her breathings very noisy – she’s not struggling and her sats on our oximeter are around 95-97 so lower than normal (she usually reads between 97 and 99) but not a huge worry given she’s asthmatic and got covid, plus she’s still saying her throat hurts. Most other symptoms have gone apart from some tiredness.
Checked her throat and it’s red and swollen. I’m thinking its probably the start of tonsillitis, I’m sure I read it’s a common complication in children after covid. DD says it feels like food and drink is bouncing around the top of her neck (she pointed roughly to where the tonsils would be on her neck).
Not tested her on an LFT again yet (only got enough to do my daily tests and her day 5/6/7/8/9 tests as I don’t trust flowflex so using Orient Gene and I only pick up a box when I have 7 tests left).
So firstly am I right that tonsillitis is common in children after having covid?
And when do I contact the GP about it? Day 5/6 when I’ve tested her or earlier?
