I'm going to be with +ve people today. We then plan to isolate together.
What should I do/get before exposure? I can get to a supermarket before I see them.
Paracetamol
Calpol
Fruit juice
Tins of soup

@cherryonthecakes DH and I knew we didn't need to self-isolate when DS was positive, but we also knew that we could test postive at any time, and we have no other family. So we assumed we would catch it and imadiately have to self-isolate, and stocked up accordingly. Luckily so.

Sunshineandflipflops · 26/01/2022 11:28

My 15 yr old had it and I didn't make him stay in his room and I didn't catch it so you might be ok. I had had 2 vaccines at that point.

MollyQueenOfSocks · 26/01/2022 11:30

My kids Dad says strepsils have done wonders for the kids feeling better! That and keeping very well hydrated :)

LefttoherownDevizes · 26/01/2022 11:38

OP get strong flavoured food (strong salt and vinegar crisps for example) and lucozafe. Easy to cook food with crunchy texture, so if you list sense of smell/taste you can still shove it down.

Nasal spray to unbung. Squash to have hit or cold (ditto lemon and honey)

Stuff to keep kids going that's quick and easy for you in case you get it worse than them

Socialcarenope · 26/01/2022 11:51

@MarianneFaithful

Sorry, didn't mean to start a bunfight! Its not a covid party. I'll be looking after +ve children, so I will effectively be isolating with them as they are too small to be left alone. I'm not going to try to catch it, but won't be keeping away from them either. I'll pick up throat spray and an oximeter. I think we're okay for entertainment & food thanks.
This scenario was my first thought on reading this thread! My second was you going to help very unwell elderly relatives.

Some posters are so quick to assume that people are idiots or unable to think for themselves.

Good luck OP. I'd suggest easy cook food for the kids incase you get really quite ill.

SofiaSoFar · 26/01/2022 12:04

Who normally looks after the children?

Sounds odd!

justlonelystars · 26/01/2022 12:05

My DS has COVID and I haven’t caught it (we’re now 10 days in so I know there’s still a chance but it’s unlikely) so you might not get it. He’s 7 months old so has dribbled all over me, been breast feeding, coughing on me etc.

Valkyrie40 · 26/01/2022 12:13

What a strange thread!

We are a family of six, two dc's have had covid and no one else caught it - we didn't isolate and were in close quarters both times. Wouldn't have occurred to me to count on getting it and "plan" for it!

What exactly do you think you'll need Confused? It isn't the plague you know?

Bussinbussin · 26/01/2022 12:14

@SofiaSoFar

Perhaps OP normally looks after then but they don't normally have covid?
StartingAgain33 · 26/01/2022 12:25

You do know that somebody died after they caught covid on purpose, don't you? Why would you do this?

Socialcarenope · 26/01/2022 12:26

@SofiaSoFar

I'm assuming separated parents and it's OPs days to care for them which isn't odd at all. Maybe the kids want their mum (assuming OP is mum) and maybe OP is worried about their poorly kids.
Socialcarenope · 26/01/2022 12:27

@StartingAgain33

You do know that somebody died after they caught covid on purpose, don't you? Why would you do this?
At least read the OPs comments if you can't be bothered to read the whole thread.
randomsabreuse · 26/01/2022 12:27

If I'd been away for a weekend (sport) and the kids tested positive while away I'd totally have done a big shop while definitely clean rather than guiltily relying on my negative lateral flow to head to the supermarket after DH succumbed.

Yes it's legal to be out and about, no it doesn't feel right.

Both adults double vaccinated and boosted, both tested positive D6 and 7. I was fine except slowly losing my mind with the sheer noise of crazy kids feeling completely better (would recommend a good supply of earplugs)!

MaizeAmaze · 26/01/2022 12:30

If the kids are old enough, hard boiled sweets.
DS lived on hard boiled sweets and tinned soup and paracetamol.

RobinPenguins · 26/01/2022 12:31

@cheekychaplin

Ventilator 🤷🏻‍♀️
Christ, are people still being this pathetic?

As OP has now explained she’s going to be looking after covid positive children, in my experience number one on the list is stuff to entertain them while they’re perfectly healthy and you potentially feel a bit grotty.

milkyaqua · 26/01/2022 12:35

A brain?

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 26/01/2022 12:35

Why on earth would you choose to do this?

PurpleDaisies · 26/01/2022 12:36

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

Why on earth would you choose to do this?
Read the op’s comments.
RobinPenguins · 26/01/2022 12:36

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

Why on earth would you choose to do this?
Umm, perhaps because, as explained, there are small children who need to be cared for?
QueenOfHiraeth · 26/01/2022 12:36

You could get some Zincovit lozenges, they are supposed to reduce virus adherence to mucous membranes
Other than that only masks and keep as much distance as possible but not easy with little children

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 26/01/2022 12:36

I have. Still makes no sense to me.

RobinPenguins · 26/01/2022 12:36

@milkyaqua

A brain?
One that helps you read the thread, perhaps?
GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 26/01/2022 12:39

Yes, a throat spray, and salt and vinegar crisps should protect you from a fatal disease.

What is wrong with people? Do you not listen to the scientists? (Forget the politicians).

PurpleDaisies · 26/01/2022 12:39

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

I have. Still makes no sense to me.
You genuinely can’t see why someone might need to look after two positive children,
itsgettingweird · 26/01/2022 12:39

@StartingAgain33

You do know that somebody died after they caught covid on purpose, don't you? Why would you do this?
You know that reading a thread helps you have this knowledge.

Don't you? Wink
