We've been receiving the old style test through the post instead of the newer nose only.

Now I always get a faint positive on flowflex but this morning I've done one on DD2 and the line is slightly darker than what I normally get. That was the last flowflex so I've done an old style one which has come back negative.

I would think that both would pick it up surely? Any one had this happen, positive on one brand but negative on another?

I have covid at the moment. I found that the positive line on the old tests (tonsil and nose swab) is a lot fainter, but still positive.

@Tangletester I haven't done her throat just nose as she is only 3 years old, can't find any nose only any where 😤

I’d say that’s a positive, if it’s very early in the infection you may find some variation in it being picked up.

For me this week the nose ones took longer to show, they showed as negative when the throat/nose one was positive. Wasnt FlowFlex but it was another NHS approved nose one.
IME if you dont wait the half hr of no food/drink before the throat & nose ones you can get a false negative, as I did last night. The lines on the throat ones are lighter and take longer to be obvious too!

I’ve just done one of the throat ones for you, but just up each nostril rather than one nostril and my tonsils. It’s negative. My Flowflex test was faintly positive this morning. I’m on day 7. Hope that helps.

I've managed to get a box of flowflex and this time negative 🤦🏻‍♀️. How are you supposed to know what's right?

If inconclusive just book a pcr.

frenchiemummy92 · 25/01/2022 20:51

So we have tested a few more times.
All been negative since. I don't suppose you can have only 1 positive to more negatives and like I say I always show a faint line on that test brand.

I will retest her in the morning again and go from there. Couldn't get her booked in for a PCR tonight so will book one tomorrow.
