I can imagine so many are walking around with covid as the symptoms are so much like a cold!

Day 1 sore itchy throat
Day 2 itchy throat and headache
Day 3 really blocked up nose at night and runny nose during the day.

My experience so far is that it's similar to a bad cold. I just see loads of people with colds at the moment, I wonder how many have covid but they just don't test!!

Ps. I'm assuming I have the Omricon!

Yes I think you're right. But equally because the symptoms are so mild it doesn't really matter if they are!

Sparklingbrook · 25/01/2022 06:32

I didn’t even have a bad cold. If it wasn’t Covid I’d have gone to work throughout.

Newjobnewstart · 25/01/2022 06:36

I have an itchy throat and headache tested negative.
Sob blocked nose, sore throat, cough tested negative
Daughter no symptoms tested positive.

rainrainraincamedowndowndown · 25/01/2022 06:37

If you assume you have Omicron, yet seeing lots of people with cold, you are doing the exactly the same, so yeah, must be many people who might have omicron but won't test and walking around.

megletthesecond · 25/01/2022 06:41

Yes. DS started with a sore throat and now he has a bunged up nose. He knew sore throat was a symptom so tested on Sunday and caught it early.

I got a perverse satisfaction from only putting those symptoms on the NHS questionnaire. They still have the original three as main symptoms.

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 25/01/2022 06:42

I have it now and it's not much more than a sniffle

Proudtocare8203 · 25/01/2022 06:47

I actually feel more Fluey today but no temp. I hope I don't get worse.

I feel like I’ve got the worst sinus infection ever, feel so unwell. Waiting on pcr but assuming it’s in the house as my wee one is hacking away with mild temp. Hope you feel better soon.

Youaremypenguin · 25/01/2022 06:50

I have all the symptoms yet I'm negative. I know I've been with people in the last week who are now positive. My DC are close contacts of numerous covid positive people. Youngest has symptoms, is negative!

DH has had outbreak at his work, he's negative but again exhausted, sore throat, headaches, cough etc.

I don't think the tests work on us. We've not tested positive once but I know we've had, very likely got it. I've given up.

DaisyTheUnicorn · 25/01/2022 06:56

I'm not convinced by the tests.i think we were told the tests were reliable so that on a population level it picked up enough to slow things down (even half would I guess?)

However in my friendship group one famiky had it and never tested positive lft but did on pcr.

Current friend and child both teated negative lft , then mum positive on pcr. (Eventually did test positive by day 5 on lft but many people would have just had a negative lft and assumed they had a cold instead.)

Magicandspiders · 25/01/2022 06:56

The high temp is the only thing that feels different to a cold. My children have had super high temps and headaches.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 25/01/2022 06:56

I'm pretty sure I have it; tested negative. DD has a mild cold and cough, tested positive.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/01/2022 07:01

When I had Delta it was like a cold and the only thing that made it stand out as Covid was completely losing my sense of smell and taste. That appears to be much less common with Omicron, nobody I know who has had Covid recently lost their smell or taste.

Stellaris22 · 25/01/2022 07:01

I have it and it's worse than a cold, chest pressure is unpleasant.

Positive lateral flow so self isolating, refuse to do PCR tests. Not giving this lying, corrupt government my information but will self isolate as necessary.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 25/01/2022 07:05

yes,
so keep your distance in crowded places,
wash your hands before eating.
wear a mask indoors,
simple

CovidCorvid · 25/01/2022 07:10

Guess this was me. I felt fine on Monday. By Monday evening had a slightly dry throat and a tickly nose. Wasnt even a sore throat, certainly no covid symptoms.

I Met friends on Tuesday and went to work. My nose just felt weird on Tuesday. Not blocked, not runny…..just strange constant tingling sensation which got worse over the day. So I tested and was positive.

Gimlisaxe · 25/01/2022 07:12

DS had a fever. I have been really ill with it. DP only got picked up because he was doing the tests

BlueFlavour · 25/01/2022 07:15

14yo ds had a throbbing headache, temp and sore throat on Thursday and Friday. Negative LFT. Pretty sure it was covid as lots of people have it at school. Did a PCR on Saturday and he finally tested positive on the LFT on the same day.
He’s been really quite ill with it.

Caramel181 · 25/01/2022 07:20

It's the worse I've ever felt. Can't even get out of bed, never mind leave the house and spread it! I wish it was just cold symptoms for me :(

Kindofhecticinside · 25/01/2022 07:24

I have same symptoms as you, feels like a bad cold. Tested positive yesterday on lateral flow but already isolating as 2 DC tested positive on Friday. My 3rd DC positive now as well and all just have slight cold symptoms, runny nose and sneezing. A lot of my wider family have had covid recently and all had the same symptoms with varying severity, no one has had any of the main three symptoms.

4pmwinetimebebeh · 25/01/2022 07:31

I have a heavy cold feeling but it’s weird, I’ve had so many coughs and colds since Jan 20 (2 small kids) but when I started with the symptoms these times I just knew it was covid whereas the other times I tested I knew it wasn’t (followed all the procedures while waiting though). I feel worse than I thought I would but actually would probs still be in work in normal times just powering through. Isolating with small kids when you don’t feeel well is a fresh hell though.

Proudtocare8203 · 25/01/2022 07:39

By the way I'm not saying some people aren't really poorly, just that a lot of people have cold symptoms which could easily be mistaken as a cold instead of covid

OP posts:
SallyWD · 25/01/2022 07:50

I have it now. My symptoms are much worse than a cold - more like a nasty flu (unable to get out of bed etc). However I know loads of people have mild symptoms with Omicron. Most people I know ARE testing for Covid if they havd cold symtoms though. They're even testing with really mild symptoms.

Campervan69 · 25/01/2022 08:04

I think people with cold symptoms are testing but getting negative results. This is certainly the case here. Ds3 has a lot of colds all the time but has consistently tested negative for covid. I did read somewhere that if you have a cold its protective against covid.
