Burning smell

I'm on day 5 after testing positive for covid and apart from 1 day of feeling very tired and hot I've been fine. However everytime I wake up from sleep I feel like I can smell things burning. I have young children so it causes me a lot of panic thinking that they have got into the kitchen and started a fire. I know this probably isn't a very concerning symptom but I was just wondering if anybody else has had this and how long it took to pass?

Yes I had this too, horrible. It would wake me in the night with a shot of adrenalin!
Then it segued into constant cigarette smoke it was like my head was a pub pre-smoking - ban, so that was nice. Now a week later I'm hardly getting it.

That's me too. I had covid in September and still get phantom smells now. Not very often but my sense of smell seems to exaggerate cooking smells, so if I use the cooker I can smell burning food for ages even when I've not burnt anything

I had it too, it eventually passed.

This was my first symptom, started end of November and I got my positive test 1st week in December. For the most part it’s gone, but I still get the occasional whiff of smoke, possibly once a day but very fleeting now.

I had Covid in August and still get the strange smell of plastic burning. I use an essential oil diffuser vapor thing to try to mask it!

My DH had this just before he tested positive.

I had covid last August. I had the classic loss of taste and smell but then after I recovered I got the phantom smoke smell occasionally. Like a bonfire or wood burner.
Then I got a cold in December, negative PCR and LFTs but after that cleared up I was lest with the smoke smell much worse.
It's starting to improve now.

I'd be interested to know if it's some kind of damage to nerves in the nose?
