I've been waiting a week for a positive lft as daughter went down last Sunday - my PCR was negative yesterday and annoyingly I've just had a feint line on a lft ... slight headache but might be being paranoid

Experiences please... when did you start feeling unwell after a positive lft!?

I had been testing daily bc my kids had covid first. I had a sore throat for two days (still negative) and then I woke in the night with aches, fever and still negative. I knew it was covid though. A few hours later I tested positive. I was then positive for two weeks.

NaturalBlue · 23/01/2022 19:45

Ok so symptoms before positive test... I was hoping I'd got away with it as dd was a week ago, but it appears not.

Been testing all this week as in laws had been on holiday (as a precaution, they have been negative) Didn't test yesterday. Woke up today with a funny head and cold like symptoms so took a LTF and it was positive. Awaiting PCR results. Both DH and DS negative on LTF but had PCR as precaution

NaturalBlue · 23/01/2022 19:52

Quickly then, I hope you don't get any worse - I'm hoping I don't wake up tomorrow feeling rubbish!!

Bit coldy / dizzy today - anyone else getting symptoms after positive lft?

My DS tested strong positive on routine LFT a couple of days before he got symptoms. We thought he was going to get off lightly as he was feeling absolutely fine, then on day 3 came the fever, headaches, vomiting, etc.
Because his symptoms started after the first positive test his isolation was longer, because if you have symptoms isolation starts from first day of symptoms.

NaturalBlue · 24/01/2022 19:05

Oh right that's interesting thank you for that insight
I'm up and down but I've had far worse, I guess not out of the woods yet

I had a slightly scratchy throat on Friday afternoon. I'd had a negative pcr the day before as my DS had tested positive on the Thursday. I also had a negative LFT on the Friday morning (just up the nose) and then a VERY strong positive on the Friday afternoon doing a throat swab one.

Saturday I felt like I had a cold coming, by Saturday night, I was bunged up and runny nose. Sunday same and lethargic. Today feeling grotty with sore throat as well.

All the while my DS (age 6) has had ZERO symptoms and my DH and DD (4) still negative. How they are still nego, I have no idea.

EcoCustard · 24/01/2022 21:34

I had a negative (tested as DH was positive) Following day I woke up unwell, tested and positive line within seconds. I had 7 days of feeling very unwell then 3 days of feeling’meh’. Tested negative on day 6 onwards despite strong symptoms.

saintbernardlady · 25/01/2022 10:23

I had absolutely nothing no sore throat, no cough nothing if I hadn't tested as part of my job I would have been walking around giving it to everyone and not known.

SallyWD · 25/01/2022 10:28

I had symptoms 2 days before I finally tested positive. Worst symptoms were day after I tested positive

Annabelll · 25/01/2022 11:09

I started to feel I’ll on day 5 following a LFT. Felt really unwell for 4 days and then started to feel better.

LibbyR79 · 25/01/2022 13:13

I had a dusty throat the night before. Then next day a v faint line, after throat swabbing too, as 1st test negative. I was sure I had it though as my daughter has had it a week.. This was yesterday.. Last night high temp and today a cough too. Hope you stay well.

NaturalBlue · 25/01/2022 20:31

Thanks everyone

I'm on day 3 now and the mental side of things is worse, being stuck in with three children also positive - really lost my patients tonight and shouted, ended up sobbing myself ... symptom wise not bad at all so I'm lucky. Roll on next week and we're all over this.

@bumhug I also had a negative PCR the day before I tested positive using a LFT which was annoying, I thought after a week of isolating my four year old I had made it out of the woods!

I had symptoms in the morning, sore throat which got worse throughout the day, headache, aches, took a lateral flow that day around 12 was negative, got sent home from work and took three in a row at 3:30, all three showed faint positives, had a pcr at 4:30 which was positive. I should add that I initially thought my lateral flows were negative as the lines didn’t show up at all until 20-25 mins later, so make sure you leave them the correct amount of time.

I have done more LFTs every day since and had very very strong positives, dark lines showing as soon as the liquid reaches it ever since and I’m now on day 6.

theremustonlybeone · 25/01/2022 20:37

I had symptoms and on first day it was negative second day of LFT it was positive. Others in the family had a faint line on day 1 of symtoms and a strong line on day 4

worriedatthemoment · 25/01/2022 20:41

I thought i might get away with no real symptoms , tested positive by pcr sun. But still not showing on LFT
Only tested as ds tested positive fri after being slightly ill on weds but testing not showing on lft weds, thurs or fri but was testing as cases at work
Then faint line fri, i woke up sat with a runny bose for an hr and just feel fizzy/ lightheaded and little tired so did pcr sun to confirn as had places fo go in week but came back positive and thought i may get away with no real symptoms but seems i shouldn't count my chickens just yet

LoLo2020 · 25/01/2022 20:42

It's kicked my proverbial. Tested positive PCR Sunday, negative lft's up until that point but positive lfts since yesterday. Dizzy and scratchy throat prior to Sunday. Yesterday and today coughing, burning chest, sore watery eyes and tired! It can go now away please!

How old is your ds op? My Dd tested positive this evening, but no symptoms yet.

SteakExpectations · 25/01/2022 21:31

I was feeling a bit “off it” Thursday bedtime.
Woke up Friday feeling a bit ill but shrugged it off.
Colleague tested positive Friday morning, tested myself and got a negative.
Assumed my feeling ill and theirs was unrelated and so carried on with my weekend as planned.
Friday evening found it very difficult to get warm.
Saturday very achy - felt like my bones ached - and found it difficult to keep warm. Headache. Was hot over night and woke up sweating. Cough, but always productive.
Sunday - positive LFT but felt much better. Sore throat and sneezing.
Monday - DS has no symptoms, negative LFT - went to school. Monday evening complains of headache and sore throat. 2 x negative LFTs (to make absolutely sure!)
Today - DS feels unwell. Positive LFT.

I really think the system is so flawed with allowing kids to go to school when family members have tested positive.

NaturalBlue · 26/01/2022 06:35

I've been exactly the same trying to get warm but shivering
Scratchy thru this morning slight headache
Dd 6 still no symptoms
Dd 2 not a sign she's got it
Dd 4 absolutely knocked the stuffing out of her Sad
