Is this lateral flow positive?

OH took a lateral flow test this morning and looked negative before he went to work. I've just come back from dropping him off very faint line but I can see one. His brother has tested positive and we have seen him regularly past couple of days.

What do we think?

Is this lateral flow positive?

Positive. I can see the line.

I'm not sure how accurate they are if outside the time window. Get him to take another test at work, they probably have them, and come straight home if there's a line inside the time frame.

Sassy306 · 19/01/2022 09:24

It looks positive but that only counts if the line appeared in the test time window which could be 15 mins or 30 mins depending on the type of test. If you didn't see it until after that he will need to do another to be sure

How long after it was taken?

I’m isolating at the minute after a very faint positive and MIL had the same which was confirmed with a PCR.

I can't even get hold of him of now.He probably took it around 7:20 but we left at 7:40 and I've done the school run and everything since so it could have been within the time frame.

Why did he take the test if he wasn't going to hang around for the result?

excelledyourself · 19/01/2022 09:45

Mine was like this the day after DS tested positive first, and my PCR was negative. Later that same day, there was no doubt it was positive.

Phone him and tell him to come home.

I can see a very faint line. Dd's was very faint like this on Sunday and then a negative afterwards, then a stronger positive on Monday but they were all within the 30 minute time frame. How long had you left it? Did you check it within the 30 minute time frame?

girlmom21 · 19/01/2022 10:17

Why did he take the test then go to work? Hmm
There's a line but you need to know when it appeared.

JugglingJanuary · 19/01/2022 10:21

Although it's out of the timeline, it's probably indicating he's positive, he needs to do another one, hopefully you can get in touch with him to tell him.
