PCR waiting times (walk in centre)

So sorry if this kinda thread has been done to death - I couldn't see any!

So, DD is unwell...tested positive on a lateral flow Monday evening.

Booked DD and myself in for PCRs at the local walk in centre the same evening.

My negative result came through very early on Tuesday morning. As of yet, nothing has come through for DD. It's been over 40 hours now and no result...

Is this normal? We literally tested at the same time...tests went in the box together to be sent to the lab.

Or is it a case that positive results take longer to come back?

I'm not doubting that DD is positive, but as I'm having to take time off in a new job to take care of her, it would be helpful to email work over DD's result, so they know I'm not making this up!

Thanks very much in advance.

If you are in UK the positive LFT is all you need now. Your work should know the rules, and you shouldn’t have to provide your DD PCR test results.

Thank you.

Whilst I understand that those are the current rules, our company's own policy states that only PCR results will suffice.

Hence me asking if there is a longer turn around time for positive results, as my negative came back fairly quickly.

My DD’s positive came back 48 hours later but I would have thought the positive result would have come first or at least together!
I would question if it has got lost or something. Maybe give it another 12 hours.

Finally came through at 8:30pm. Positive, which was no surprise.

Wonder if it took longer as they were checking the variant?

In any event, glad I have the proof that my work have specifically asked for.

Hope your DD is OK. Surprised by how poorly mine has been with it. Certainly not as mild as the media suggests...

Ah glad it turned up for you and DD. Yes my DD 14 had it over Christmas she wasn’t too poorly but a lot of time spent in bed/tired/headache etc. Picked up about day 5. Hope your DD improves soon.
