How likely is a positive after a negative?

Ds tested positive last Monday so today was day 8. Tested days 6 and 7 and strong line came up straight away. Today was negative. Are most people finding once they’ve had one negative the next is usually or is this not the case. He’s autistic and doesn’t cope well with disappointment so just need to mentally prepared myself for the potential meltdown

It greatly depends. Likelihood is tomorrow's test will be negative after today's but who knows. Dd had covid last month and still had a strong line on day 8 despite being asymptomatic throughout. It was the same day the new 7 day isolation rules come out before Christmas and was hoping we could leave isolation a day or so early before Christmas. But I didn't bother doing one after that, thought we'd just as well do the full 10 at that point.

My son is autistic too, testing him is awful and like your son hates disappointment. Can he not just do the full 10 days isolation now as he's so close to the end? I know how hard it is though, DS was climbing the walls with boredom, he had to do the full 10 days as the new rules hadn't come in by that point.

My youngest now has covid again after having it 5 weeks ago! Gutted! Hoping she'll be negative by the weekend to go back school Monday! 😪

He wants to go round and see my mum tomorrow, he’s really fed up as I’m working from home so I’ve had to leave him watching tv or playing on tablet most of time, plus selfishly I could do with the break on Friday if he goes to school, it’s been a hard two weeks

Once DD7 had a negative all her LFTs were negative. I'm sorry to say I had a negative on Sunday but then positive yesterday and today. She was asymptomatic and I was a little unwell, no idea if that made a difference....

It was negative but then when I’ve looked at it again after the time about an hour later there was a faint line
