Would you on skiing trip?

DH is flying to the Alps on Friday. He's best friend (who he shared a car with twice just yesterday) tested positive this morning. We think my DH might have been positive a couple of weeks ago, weak LFT positive / negative PCR. There's the chance he'd only test positive while on his skiing trip.

What if tests positive while there?

He couldn't fly back to the UK?

Onlyrainbows · 18/01/2022 13:54

They don't have to test once there, would only have to test on arrival once here.

No under those circs

Iamblossom · 18/01/2022 13:56

Yep I would go if I was testing negative. What are you supposed to do, not go as you MIGHT test positive? That's absurd.

applecrumbleforteaagain · 18/01/2022 13:58

If he tests negative until Friday then yes he can and should go.

minipie · 18/01/2022 13:58

Honestly? Yes I probably would. I’d test before going and if all clear I would go.

There’s so much covid around right now, everyone has a chance of having been exposed even if they don’t know they have been, so I don’t think your DH is in a different position just due to car rides.

Onlyrainbows · 18/01/2022 13:59

Exactly he'd be cancelling merely on a "what if" scenario

Is he vaccinated? Does he need to test at any stage? In his position, if I felt well I would take a test before I left and then go for it. The test on return to UK is being abolished.

We could all have got Covid anywhere in the last few weeks. But if we are vaccinated and are testing negative we can go about our normal lives.

LakeShoreD · 18/01/2022 14:06

I wouldn’t cancel based on a ‘what if’. Travel insurance won’t pay out unless he actually tests positive. Getting covid whilst away is a risk of travelling anywhere right now so I would hope he already considered that when he booked the trip. But hopefully the risk is still low given he’s vaccinated (presumably) and probably had covid recently. I would lateral flow every day including Friday morning and if they’re negative then I’d still go.

Onlyrainbows · 18/01/2022 14:16

He just tested negative. Fully vaccinated with booster.

I would go. This thing is going to roll on forever. Do what you can within reason.

Me and DD had covid before Xmas. DH and other kids didnt catch it so they went skiing. DH then must have caught it during the journey home.... bit annoying as not ill, then isolation and still testing posititve on PCR so can't go back to work overseas...
