Positive LFT.. do I need a PCR as well?

Sorry, I feel like I should know this.
I woke up this morning with a bit of a scratchy throat. I took a LFT (I do this every Monday morning anyway before work) and it was positive. I registered the result online and I am obviously isolating now as per guidelines.
Throughout the day I have felt progressively worse - headache, slight cough developing.
Do I need to book a PCR?

If you have symptoms you PCR. Anyone who will be applying for a support payment also needs PCR test.it’S a shame they haven’t updated the symptoms list though as Omicron has more than the 3 main symptoms.

www.gov.uk/government/news/people-with-a-positive-lateral-flow-test-no-longer-required-to-take-confirmatory-pcr-test
LFD tests are to be used by people without COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone who has one of the core symptoms of COVID-19 – a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – should self-isolate and take a PCR test. They must self-isolate if they get a positive test result, even if they have had a recent negative lateral flow test – these rules have not changed.

When you register your positive lft it literally says that you don't need to have a pcr.

@HasaDigaEebowai

No
See the link I posted above which states

There are some exceptions to this approach and certain groups will still require a confirmatory PCR following a positive LFD result:…

People with symptoms do need a PCR.

TheSnowyOwl · 17/01/2022 16:31

Yes because you are symptomatic.

Because, with symptoms, a LFT shouldn’t be used. With Symptoms it should automatically be a PCR. Without symptoms a PCR isn’t needed.

No. The symptoms only appeared after the LFT. Same thing happened to me last week. You definitely do not need a PCR.
