Do you think we've escaped it?

Ds tested positive on Monday, symptoms started Sunday night and was confirmed by pcr. He's self isolating in his room and still isn't well at all. I've tested him today as asked by track and trace and is still showing strong positive. I've been into him to check on him, give medication and meals etc but he's literally stayed in bed most of the time bless him. He's now on day 7 do you think we've managed to escape it or is there still time for us to test positive? We've been told by track and trace to test daily for 7 days which we have. My little dd had it at the beginning of November and she was really sick with it and has only just started to get over it so I'm really worried about her catching it again. Anyone tested positive after day 7 after being a contact? Thanks.

We have Covid currently. DS1 his lateral flow was a clear Line last Saturday. None of us tested positive with lateral flow - only on pcr. Thursday for DH and Dc2. My lateral flow was negative Friday but pcr was positive Friday. So pcr is the way to check is my impression

My husband is on day 8 of being covid positive today and I have just tested positive today ( second time) so yes it's possible.

Miracle29 · 16/01/2022 21:41

So not out of the woods yet then. I'm still testing everyday just to make sure as I've been told by track and trace.
@serenschintte did you pcr for symptoms if you don't mind me asking?

My DS was negative on LFT and positive on PCR on the same day.

Well it depends on what you mean by symptoms - I had random aches and pains for three days and nothing else. I booed my pcr because DH, Ds1 and Ds2 all tested positive and by the time between booking and test my symptoms got worse.
I had only the aches and pains - occasional and stabby with the lateral flow and it was negative.

Thanks for your replies. Negative test again this morning and I still feel OK. Am I right in thinking that the new rules stating pcr are only for those with symptoms now? The track and trace message I had when ds tested positive was me, dp, dd need to test for 7 days but doenst mention a pcr so I've looked it up and it says for symptoms only so I'll continue to keep an eye out. It's day 8 from ds symptoms and day 7 from his test.
My ds very first symptom was aching then tempreture, now he has sore throat cough and yesterday lost his smell and taste.

DS had it last November and none of the rest of us got it. He did pretty much stay in his room though.

Shinyandnew2022 · 17/01/2022 13:27

My DH has just tested positive on an lft on day 9 of DS isolation period .
Feeling very sorry for ourselves as we thought we had escaped it !

Miracle29 · 17/01/2022 13:48

We managed to escape it with dd which really surprised me because there were nights she was really sick so I had to stay in her room or on the sofa with her and I was sure I was going to get it. I won't class myself out of the woods yet then.
@shinyandnew2022 hope your well soon. I'm a bit confused as to why track and trace say test everyday until the 7th day if your a contact if there's a possibility of catching it after those 7 days. I've already gone threw 3 boxes and I struggled to get them.
