How Soon LFTs detect Covid?

Hi, so basically I have just found out I have been in contact with a covid-positive person yesterday. I don't have any symptoms of illness. I want to take an LFT but would it show up if I have only recently been in contact?

Probably not. My 6 year old tested positive on Monday, took untill Friday for the 3 year old to test positive. Neither adult (boosted) has tested positive in the 6 days of tests to today

Thank you for the response. Maybe I will wait until tomorrow to take a test

I suppose the answer is “it depends what your activities look like”. I don’t think the chances of testing positive after 2 days are very high- if you do a test, perhaps it’s worth scrubbing the tonsils as well as the nose as omicron is apparently showing more in throat than in nose. If you’re not in a hurry to meet vulnerable people, I would perhaps wait until day 3, but that’s because I have a pretty pathetic social life so I’d not be a risk to anyone…
On the other hand, with the number of cases we have it doesn’t take much to be exposed, even without a close contact notification!

My youngest tested positive (with symptoms) around the 4th day from his contact. We have followed procedures and are testing daily and still negative (day 6).
