Meant to be going for a meal tonight with family, so I took a test this morning to be on the safe side. I checked the test after 10 minutes. I think it’s positive, dp doesn’t. He told me to test again which I did an hour later, it was negative but there was quite a lot of blood on the stick from my nose which I’ve heard can affect the result.

I’d say a v faint positive, sorry!

maz210 · 15/01/2022 10:39

I think it's going to be positive, sorry. Mine showed as a faint line at first, 12 hours later it was a very strong red line.

Leave it until this afternoon and test again.

MaizeAmaze · 15/01/2022 10:42

Positive

BIWI · 15/01/2022 10:44

Any faint line means positive - it says this in the booklet that comes with the tests.

However, if that's the one you used where you had blood on the swab, it's an invalid test (and it will show a positive result). It also says that in the booklet!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 15/01/2022 10:44

Yes, unfortunately LFTs are like pregnancy tests. Any second line within the time limit is positive.

LethargicActress · 15/01/2022 10:46

I agree with your DH. I thought that minuscule grey bit was just where the fluid passed through the covid test but and it only looks different because there’s different stuff on that little line. If the stuff turns pink then it’s positive, but if it looks like it’s just been soaked through, then it’s not.

Posorneg1 · 15/01/2022 10:46

@BIWI I know but I think with him saying it’s negative I thought maybe it was just me. This was the test without the blood

... and it's positive, I'm afraid

Eslteacher06 · 15/01/2022 10:48

Mine looked like this with a positive pcr. Positive I'm afraid!

ItsSnowJokes · 15/01/2022 10:53

Positive

gogohm · 15/01/2022 10:53

You can see the line where the active strip is before you test, make sure that not what you are seeing (look at a fresh one to check) then do a test in 3 hours or so to ensure your nose settles

ThettaReddast · 15/01/2022 10:55

That looks positive to me

Howmanysleepsnow · 15/01/2022 10:58

That’s positive.

BaggaTDoubleTroubleDoubleG · 15/01/2022 11:02

There’s been a bit of a spate of false positives recently - I seem to recall some threads on here and some information on line citing people getting false positives on tests done first thing.

I’d repeat it in a few hours if I were you, just to be sure. I currently have what I suspect is omicron (tested positive on Friday) and it’s more like a typical cold than previous variants have been described.

Terminallysleepdeprived · 15/01/2022 11:12

The line is grey not a shade of red so it's inconclusive. I would test again before you are due to go out and see how things are.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 15/01/2022 11:36

My mum had a false positive and it was a clear line, then all other lfts negative (including ones taken just after) and pcr negative. It wasn't faint like this one.

Whereas in sept I had a faint line like this that quickly became a real line
