Omicron headache

For people with omicron, what was your headache like? Mine is a literally stabbing pain in/near one ear. I’m wondering if I actually have an ear infection and covid (delightful lol) but the ear isn’t hot at all - just stabbing pains. Wondering if anyone has had similar and this is actually what is meant by a “headache”?

Mine started out as a normal headache which luckily went away with pain killer. Then became a pain that came every now and then sort of what you describe but not really in one place. Keeps moving.

@LetsGoFlyAKiteee interesting! Thanks for replying :)

Had the headache yesterday burning and pounding my head felt like it was going to explode. I cried as never have so much pain in my
Life.

Didn't help I had a high temp with it to.

It's completely gone today x

Notmal headache at the top of my head and a sharp pulsing pain in my right ear that woke me in the night one night and would come and go for brief periods over the next few days

piney07 · 14/01/2022 20:00

@stairgates that describes exactly what I’m having! It’s so strange!

@mummyto6123456 it’s bloody painful! Still would rather this than repeat the no taste and smell though, I found that very mentally difficult

My DH had horrible ear pain/headache/sinus pains with COVID (I presume omicron as it's been the last two weeks or so).

Whitewolf2 · 14/01/2022 20:29

I had bad sinus pain for around 5 days, one side of my face and jaw really hurt. Kept taking Sudafed and eventually it went!

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 14/01/2022 20:32

Felt sinusy - came on just after I did the LFT test yesterday. My first actual symptom was a stiff neck, like I'd slept on it funny but then I remembered not all stiff necks are a result of muscular pain.

BigotSpigot · 14/01/2022 20:36

I had a week of terrible headaches and had to alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen every few hours just to keep on top of it. If I forgot, I really paid for it!

Dinnertime22 · 14/01/2022 20:50

BigotSpigot did you have them straight away? I seem to have developed the headaces near the end (on day 10) and testing negative.

Kitkat151 · 14/01/2022 20:57

My headache was constant....like a tight band around my head....was worse when I moved my head....I lay in bed for 3 days trying not to move....day 4 I woke up and headache had gone

BigotSpigot · 14/01/2022 21:29

Dinnertime22 I didn't have any headaches for the first week or so, they came on once I started getting better.

Idontbelieveit14 · 14/01/2022 22:27

I keep getting a shooting pain in my eyebrow and it’s freaking me out Sad

JojobaFromOctober · 14/01/2022 22:40

Dull for one day. It was annoying and didn't really respond to paracetamol, but it was a much nicer headache than I get before my period, which I have to lie down and close my eyes for.

I had mild symptoms altogether though - the most striking was having to go to bed at 6.30 pm and sleeping right through for about 14 hours.

JojobaFromOctober · 14/01/2022 22:43

It was also very even on both sides which is unusual for me as my headaches are usually just above my left eye. I really noticed that difference.

Though I just assume I had the omicron variant due to mildness and prevalence but actually I don't know that for sure because I wasn't told what variant I had.

Lindy2 · 14/01/2022 22:45

My Covid headache was waves of pain across my forehead.

I did also end up with an ear infection as a secondary infection though (it really is the virus that just keeps on giving). The start of the ear infection was a bubbling feeling in my ear and of general dizziness and nausea.

A lot of people seem to get a lot of sinusitis type symptoms with Covid (myself included) which can obviously cause ear problems. I needed antibiotics to deal with the ear infection once I started to recover from Covid.

TheVanguardSix · 14/01/2022 22:49

Terrible headache (frontal) for days that nothing could touch, radiating to my left ear... so I ended up with a temporal region headache, kind of a popping headache in that area... a bit stabby. Then came the earache, ear popping as it does on an airplane and then blocking. I ended up with what really felt like an ear infection for few nights. That subsided. Then I had really bad vertigo for about a week along with tinnitus which I have anyway but have had for so many years, I no longer notice it... well, now I do. Confused My tinnitus is much worse now. I tested positive for omicron on the 20th of December but I am sure I'd been unwell for several days beforehand as I'd had that headache a few days prior to taking my PCR test. I still have the tinnitus, bit of a sore throat and runny nose. My hearing is much worse. Physically I feel fine now... strong again, back on my bike, getting around. But my hearing and the tinnitus do get to me.

What was weird for me was that the headache came crashing back around 10-12 days after my positive PCR, having subsided.

TheVanguardSix · 14/01/2022 22:51

Oh yes! Sudafed really, really helped. Another poster mentioned it. It was the only thing that finally gave me relief from the vertigo and 'cement mixer' feeling inside my very clogged-up head.

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 15/01/2022 09:15

No longer sinusy but it's on my chest. Not coughing much but bringing up gross stuff. Can't really move around much with DH and the boys in the house - don't want to infect them but they're going out soon so will see. Want to 'test' myself by walking around to see how I feel.

Can be hard to tell what symptoms are symptoms and what are a result of being super inactive.

maddy68 · 15/01/2022 09:18

I have an ear infection brought on by omincron. And the headache was awful Get some ear drops they're really help also take antihistamines. If it gets worse you'll need antibiotics

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 15/01/2022 11:53

Talking of ears, now my ears are super gluey. And when I shake my head I hear a sort of crunchy, swishy sound.
This is day 3.
Also tested myself walking up and down the stairs. Resting pulse is normal (low 50's) but only did it twice and it was 122 and feeling out of breath. oh boy.

Yoyokitten · 05/03/2022 17:47

I still feel rough after 17 days. Symptoms now are swollen gland in right side of my neck, blocked ear and really unpleasant sinus pain to the side of my eyebrow. Pharmacist suggested Day Nurse capsules, he said it will deal with the sinus pain, and decongest too. Covid, the gift that keeps on giving.!
I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but as I'm 70 I suppose I'm in the higher risk group.
Never smoked and triple jabbed, so can imagine how bad it could have been a couple of years ago. As bad as I feel after nearly 3 weeks, I'm very grateful to still be here and not in hospital!
