Hi. I last saw my husband 11.30pm Monday. Daughter got sent gone from school Tuesday. I tested her and myself both negative. She went back to school Thursday. I have a younger dd too.

Husband phoned me today. He has Covid. I've done a test it's negative.

What do I do now? How often do I test? Do I need one of those other tests that you send away? How do I get one? When can he come home. He works away.

Sorry I'm autistic and I never understand what we have to do.

Thank you.

Lateral flow Test every morning for 7 days - same for kids if they were in contact with him

RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 16:49

He won't be home for 2 weeks.
He says he caught it Tuesday but would it show that quick?

He went to the pub Saturday.

If you last saw him on Monday then you wouldn't be counted as a close contact so just continue as normal. He can come back once he is no longer contagious. Is he in the UK or abroad?

If in the UK he can take lateral flow tests to see if he's testing negative. 2 negative tests taken 24 hours apart will mean he's OK to come home. Earliest they can take them is day 5 and 6. If they stay positive then he can come out of isolation after a full 10 days anyway

I just went to register this test as negative and i pressed positive by mistake what an absolute idiot!!!

I tested positive on the 12th - test and trace were interested in where I’d been between the 5th and the 9th so it seems it can take a week from exposure to actively having the virus? So if he had it Monday you could have it at some point?
RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 16:55

@Idontbelieveit14 I told him that he said I'm
being stupid and he caught it Tuesday. He can't know that.

You can change it to negative. Are you still on the page
dementedpixie · 14/01/2022 16:57

They count close contacts as people they were in contact with in the last 48 hours.

Mindymomo · 14/01/2022 17:00

Try not to worry if test and trace contact you, just explain you pressed positive by mistake, I’m sure you won’t be the only one that’s done it. Keep doing LFT for 7 days, unless you get symptoms, then you need a PCR test.

RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 17:01

No I tried it said that test has been used. I phoned 119 and she said she can't change it and I still have to isolate. Oh my god!!

I didn't mean re register it. On the page where you put your result there is a bit to click if you put the wrong result by mistake

RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 17:03

.

Advice please husband got it

Of course you don't need to isolate as you arent positive. It's not your fault their system isn't for for purpose

dementedpixie · 14/01/2022 17:04

*fit for purpose

RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 17:05

Will I be fined. I'm such an idiot I was on the photo to my husband while I was doing it. I've done them before loads and never made this mistake.

You've tried to re register the same test. I'm talking about the page where you put the original result

RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 17:06

Usually when you click positive a pop up box appears and says you are logging a positive test are you sure you wish to continue. You have to click to confirm you wish to register the test as positive.

RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 17:08

No I don't think that happened

dementedpixie · 14/01/2022 17:21

The bit I've circled is where you could have changed the result

Advice please husband got it
RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 17:23

Yes did that

LIZS · 14/01/2022 17:25

Use another and register it as negative? You only use a pcr if you have symptoms now, assuming you are vaccinated.

RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 17:38

I've just phoned to double check I definitely need to isolate until Thursday then test Thursday and Friday.

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 14/01/2022 17:40

I wouldn't be isolating off the back of an incorrect test result

RevolvingPivot · 14/01/2022 17:57

This is why I can't work I do stupid things like this all the time
