Old rules if your test is from before Monday?

My son is isolating having tested positive last Tuesday. Negative LFT now. I assumed as the rules changed on Monday on his day six he could go back to school, but apparently if your test is from Monday onwards the new rules apply, but before that you follow the seven full days isolation rule.

This feels so frustrating. We have isolated so many times previously before during bubbles, had covid more than once and I’m completely done and two days made such a difference when so much school has been missed.

Is it just me that got this wrong? It didn’t seem clear :(

Oooh I was wondering this too! We are also isolating after testing positive on Wednesday and assumed we could do the 5 days as well; where have you read you can’t?

Gunpowder · 14/01/2022 15:08

Ditto!

Oh you’re joking? My positive was Wednesday

Katie517 · 14/01/2022 16:46

I would assume it applies to anyone currently isolating and even if it doesn’t I would do the tests on day 4 and 5 and go out if negative what difference does it make when your test was the situation is the same

It’s day 5 and 6

That's what I thought and I haven't see anything to the contrary.

I agree I can’t find it anywhere online, it all reads like a day five test could be done Sunday and day 6 Monday and released to go to school. I asked 119 and that’s what they told me though?!

I presume your day 5 would need to be Monday or later?

Luuby86 · 14/01/2022 20:47

I tested positive this morning and was wondering the same thing so rang the 119 helpline. The lady said that when the rules change on Monday they will also apply to people like me, so provided negative on day 5/6 can stop isolating.

That’s handy thank you. DD also tested positive today so at least hopefully won’t miss too much school.
Flippydip · 14/01/2022 21:26

When they reduced isolation (with negative tests) last time it applied to anyone currently isolating. I imagine it will be the same this time round.

Luuby86 · 15/01/2022 01:13

Might be worth giving then a ring though, as I’ve just read on another thread that somebody else was told completely the opposite by the 119 people…. Confused
