Testing positive on older version

Hi,

I'm testing positive on older throat swab versions of lft and only extremely faint if at all on the nasal ones, even if I swab my throat.

The throat swab ones were sent to me in the post recently so I assume not a dud box. Have tested DH on both and he's negative but I'm positive on the throat ones.

Any idea why?

Even a faint positive on the nasal swabs is a positive. You need a PCR.

Omicron is more likely to show up on a throat swab, apparently. That sounds like a positive test.

I've done a PCR this morning, I'm just genuinely interested as to why it's a clear positive on the throat swab version and barely if at all there on the nasal version. Maybe the nasal needs a higher viral load but that doesn't explain why it's lesser even if I'm swabbing my throat. Maybe the smooth cotton bud doesn't pick up like the rough one?

The nasal ones have a tiny stick, probably not getting as far back. I've just had two boxes of the old ones delivered, I wonder if the nasal.ones will be phased out?

I never tested positive on the older throat and nose swabs but did on the newer nose only ones.
I felt awful and was negative on the throat ones but went for a PCR and was positive.
I done both tests the day after my PCR while waiting for the results and the throat and nose both negative but nose only was positive!
On day 6&7 I used both and again continued to be positive on the nose only but not the other!
