The telegraph are reporting more parties... The night before Prince Philip's funeral.

  • party spilled out into garden
-someone broke Wilf's swing in tthe garden Confused -someone sent with a suitcase to buy booze from the co-op

When the telegraph of all papers are reporting it, he's surely done for now?

Apologies if another thread on this, couldn't see one

Blimey! Was Boris at this one too ?

No, he was at chequers while these took place. Apparently two separate leaving parties that then joined in the garden and stayed until gone midnight. Even though he wasn’t there, I bet he feels he could do without the headlines contrasting Downing Street parties with the queen sitting alone at the funeral the next morning.
PassingByAndThoughtIdDropIn · 13/01/2022 23:26

You gotta ask, where was Sunak when all these shenanigans were going on? It's his garden too. I know he has a different set of staff, but I'm genuinely curious what the two teams knew about each others' events.

buddhasbelly · 13/01/2022 23:32

Reading the article just now - says he had left for Chequers.

Two separate leaving parties on the night, surely all those folk in attendance should lose their jobs.

Just when you think he can't get any deeper into the shit.
New PM by Monday?

GreenLunchBox · 13/01/2022 23:35

I hope he doesn't go too soon. I'm finding all this rather entertaining 🤣

Justajot · 13/01/2022 23:45

Sunak doesn't actually live there. I suspect he's got a much nicer house somewhere else in London.

InexperiencedDogOwner · 14/01/2022 00:38

Just goes to show they weren't scared of the virus, just tried to terrify everyone else

Mansion rather than house, he wouldn’t need Tory party donors to pay for his refurbishments.

This a million times over!

Is this Dom Cummings getting his revenge?

My guess is there's more stuff to be revealed with the 'cherry on top', proof of the affair Boris was rumoured to be having.

Pugroll · 14/01/2022 07:51

It doesn't matter than he wasn't there, he's obviously a terrible leader who's staff have no qualms of acting like this. It's outrageous, how he hasn't already been ousted is baffling, what will it take?!

Frazzled2207 · 14/01/2022 07:55

Clearly there is a mole or two in there
Doesn’t matter if the pm was there or not -clearly there was a culture of partying when the rest of us were not allowed

Absolutely disgraceful that we are meant to sweep this under the carpet yet again

Weirdly Allegra Stratton, much criticised as she was, is coming across as the only decent human there as she did at least swiftly do the right thing by resigning and showed genuine remorse too. And she only joked about there being a party.

RoseAndRose · 14/01/2022 07:57

Outdoors atherings were allowed at that point, though, weren't they?

I mean it's appalling taste - there was still official morning and government staff should just know that partying Downing Street during mourning is just plain Wrong (which I think does reflect standards)

But was it also a covid breach?

Eve · 14/01/2022 07:58

Deputy political editor of the Sun was who the party was for - now we know what they have been quiet on the parties. Hmm

PurpleDaisies · 14/01/2022 07:59

It was the rule of six outside. This was more than that.

Yep he is a twat too didn't he break the rules ?

Definitely as they were indoors
bestbefore · 14/01/2022 08:02

@LizzieMacQueen it must be Dom, plotting his revenge and leaking all these stories, because why now? Also isn't the press there most of the time at Downing Street? 🧐 and the police??

picklemewalnuts · 14/01/2022 08:04

If it's the same people who are there anyway because of work does it matter?

Disclaimer- I haven't been reading the details, just aware of the headlines. I know nothing of the numbers, or the type of parties. But if the same people are in the same place, but with a mince pie and a glass of wine, isn't it the same risk if they are working or partying?

User135644 · 14/01/2022 08:06

Why are The Telegraph leaking this? They're Tory to the core and it's Johnson's paper of choice.

PurpleDaisies · 14/01/2022 08:06

These were the rules for meeting outdoors at that time.
The evidence shows that it is safer for people to meet outdoors rather than indoors. And this is why from 29 March, when most schools start to break up for the Easter holidays, outdoor gatherings (including in private gardens) of either 6 people (the Rule of 6) or 2 households will also be allowed, making it easier for friends and families to meet outside.

PurpleDaisies · 14/01/2022 08:08

If it's the same people who are there anyway because of work does it matter?

Of course it does. People were hammered. Social distancing would have gone out of the window. Even if it was the same people, they would have been mixing in different combinations, probably shouting/speaking loudly over the music, hugging. You really can’t see what’s different about a party compared with regular office behaviour?

JustMaggie · 14/01/2022 08:12

What I'm struggling to understand is why the Telegraph is publishing this story? I thought they were the paper that really supports this government.

CaptainChannel · 14/01/2022 08:14

I'm hoping that something good can come of this - that is that the electorate will finally realise what a collective bunch of lying, disrespectful, arrogant scumbags the Tory party are and stop voting for them.
