The telegraph are reporting more parties... The night before Prince Philip's funeral.

  • party spilled out into garden
-someone broke Wilf's swing in tthe garden Confused -someone sent with a suitcase to buy booze from the co-op

When the telegraph of all papers are reporting it, he's surely done for now?

Apologies if another thread on this, couldn't see one

Thanks. Nothing about not holding parties, though.

ParkheadParadise · 14/01/2022 17:26

@the80sweregreat

They broke Wilfred's swing too Bunch of reprobates :(
Wouldn't be surprised if Bawbag Boris broke the swing 🤪🤪
the80sweregreat · 14/01/2022 17:28

Poor Wilfred the morning after they had been ' working ' sooo hard ..
' mummy , someone has broken my swing ':(
' aww, don't worry son , I'm sure dad will ask a Tory donor for some money to get it fixed '

Notonthestairs · 14/01/2022 17:31

@Florianus

Thanks. Nothing about not holding parties, though.
I assume they didn't usually need to spell out - don't have a party on work premises (or the immediate surroundings) the night before state funeral.

Particularly given ongoing restrictions.

Abra1d1 · 14/01/2022 17:51

And another party!

The former head of the government unit responsible for drawing up Covid-19 restrictions was given a “boozy” leaving party just days before Christmas, it can be disclosed.

The Telegraph has been told that “dozens” of officials from the Cabinet Office’s Covid-19 taskforce attended the event on Dec 17 2020 while the country was still under draconian restrictions.

HesterShaw1 · 14/01/2022 17:57

@PurpleDaisies

If it's the same people who are there anyway because of work does it matter?

Of course it does. People were hammered. Social distancing would have gone out of the window. Even if it was the same people, they would have been mixing in different combinations, probably shouting/speaking loudly over the music, hugging. You really can’t see what’s different about a party compared with regular office behaviour?

See, I don't regard what actually happened in the garden as mattering too much. They clearly weren't afraid of any virus.

The point is that we, the plebs, weren't allowed to do the same. People were being reported and fined for trying to relax a bit with friends at the same time. THIS is the problem. The stinking stinking hypocrisy. Not any "risk from the virus".

OliveTree75 · 14/01/2022 18:17

@InexperiencedDogOwner

Just goes to show they weren't scared of the virus, just tried to terrify everyone else
Also been thinking this
vera99 · 14/01/2022 18:29

Blimey Clavs still at it - there is no iceberg says the Captain of the Titanic AND KEIR STARMER HAD A BEER IN HIS HAND THROUGH A WINDOW.

Memo to Clav : Speccie and Torygraph and most conservative associations and Andrew Bridgen ffs want to ditch the amoral Clown King get on board and stop the whatboutery and at least he's not Corbyn nonsense.

That's an excellent point I hadn't considered.

AND KEIR STARMER HAD A BEER IN HIS HAND THROUGH A WINDOW.

Two beers - one on the windowsill.

vera99 · 14/01/2022 19:23

Somehow I can't imagine Sir Keir having two beers on the go and he would probably leave half of his first. Whereas Johnson would polish off the fine claret he had opened that preggers Carrie had just a sip out of and polish the lot. Before farting and passing out on the sofa and missing numerous calls from Lebedev. Violinist, I'll just leave that there.

Memo to Clav

Perhaps - there's always Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss waiting in the wings. Wink

vera99 · 14/01/2022 19:42

Ah cut and paste Liz "super friend" of Kwasi Kwarteng and lover of cheese and pocket-sized billionaire dishi Rishi. Good luck with that.

vera99 · 14/01/2022 19:46

BREAKING (Wilf's swing) : Clav ditching Johnson.

"Truly I tell you," Jesus replied, "this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times."
And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." And he broke down and wept.

Clavinova · 14/01/2022 19:49

vera99
Good luck with that.

I like her - not 'wooden' like Keir Starmer (or Theresa May). She knows what a woman is and got in to Oxford from a comprehensive school.

vera99 · 14/01/2022 19:54

Better us your Tory heft then Clav (if it exists) to push this oaf out of Downing Street and soon for all our sakes.

It's really simple if people can't comfort loved ones at a funeral

From the link;

A spokesman for Milton Keynes Council said: "We are sorry to have upset this family.

"We don't usually step in if a guest needs to be comforted by another family member and in this instance should have taken a more considered approach.

vera99 · 14/01/2022 20:11

I sort of feel sorry for the serial cuck husband of Ms Truss one has to wonder whether Boris did though I have a feeling she's not his type.

I assume they didn't usually need to spell out - don't have a party on work premises (or the immediate surroundings) the night before state funeral.

I was really referring to the fact that the instructions for "mourning" are all about interactions with the public and say nothing about internal office events.

BashStreetKid · 15/01/2022 09:36

@AgathaX

The Telegraph have a report of a party, plus photo, that Starmer attended during lockdown.
Link?
BashStreetKid · 15/01/2022 09:40

The No.10 garden was used as part of a workplace, and there was no limit on how many people could occupy a workplace. That has always been Johnson's escape clause and why he said, in his "apology" that the 20/5/20 event was not technically a breach of the regulations even though he admitted that some would see it as such.

The rules didn't permit socialising at social events, irrespective of where those events took place. There was no workplace exception.

Like many others, I have been to leaving parties, Christmas celebrations, wedding receptions and similar events in workplaces.

And those events weren't permitted during lockdown.

Notonthestairs · 15/01/2022 09:44

The Starmer party was three people and a beer - let's add it to Sue Gray's list of 17 Conservative parties shall we?

BashStreetKid · 15/01/2022 09:47

It's behaviour by the civil service that people will either excuse or not. No member of the government is said to have attended these latest two parties.

So far, there are 14 parties that we know about, some attended by government members. The point is that there was a culture that the rules didn't apply in no. 10, hence the fact that Johnson saw no need to take action about the garden party. All of that came from the top down. You can't excuse any of it on the basis that a member of the government might or might not have been there. Johnson is responsible.

It mystifies me why you're so keen to excuse Johnson, @Clavinova. It's not as if he stands a hope in hell of making it to the next election. Shouldn't you be concentrating on licking the boots of his likely successors?

BashStreetKid · 15/01/2022 09:48

Sorry, 17 parties that we know about. To say nothing about the latest revelations of Wine Fridays. It's hard to keep up.
