He has already made his views on tiles and who they apply to ( everyone) so I don’t think it’spartygate . I think it’s the new 5 day isolation period which isn’t science led .

His real job it at Notts Uni and always has been, a d there he remains. The government have been very lucky to have such a brilliant clinical academic for so long IMO

He's held an appointment at Nottingham University for quite a while, and was on secondment to be deputy CMO

His new appointment is as Pro Vice Chancellor, and you don't recruit someone to a job of that seniority in the space of a few days ie since news of the party was made public.

New appointment starts in March. This looks like timing for a normal 6 week notice period

Presumably because they don't want to gap the post (ideally at all, or for the minimum time) they'll need time to recruit a successor, and for that person to be released from their current post. If it's another secondment then the timings for release are probably faster than having to deal with a notice period.

But even so the 6-7 weeks remaining aren't a huge amount of time and you can't get the ball rolling by advertising a high profile post until the current incumbent says they're leaving
