Anyone else not ever test positive?

CalmDownBoris72 · 12/01/2022 11:14

We’re on round two of our household having COVID. First time in happened was in the summer holidays, H and our 5 kids all go it, I was negative.

Now we’re onto omicron, H tested positive first, 2 kids have tested positive so far but I’m still negative on LF and 2 x PCR but I’m symptomatic.

Do some people just never test positive?

Are you vaccinated at all? Or perhaps naturally immune?

randomsabreuse · 12/01/2022 12:04

Thinking we're getting there but might test positive in the next couple of days. DC1 tested positive on Monday, DH and I have all the muscle aches, itchy eyes, lethargy but no cough, fever or loss of taste/smell. Still negative on LFT. Both boosted. DC too young for vaccine.

upupandawaytoday · 12/01/2022 12:06

Just before christmas both my dc tested positive and I refused to isolate them to their rooms. I cuddled, shared food all within our little isolation. I've also come into close contact including giving my friend a cuddle the day she tested positive and yet I have still never tested positive.

I half wondered what the point of me having my booster last week but did it anyway!

RuthW · 12/01/2022 12:14

Me. Dd had it Dec 20. I've not had it. I had booster in Oct but had only had 1 jab at that point in 2020

MouseyMoose · 12/01/2022 12:16

Me, DH has had it twice and both times we didn't bother to isolate from each other, I didn't catch it either time. Also been a close contact 2 other times due to work. I think some of us must be naturally immune?

MouseyMoose · 12/01/2022 12:17

To add, the first time I hadn't been vaxxed at all, the second time was a week after my booster.

KatherineofGaunt · 12/01/2022 12:19

I've had maybe 3 or 4 PCRs and I LFT twice a week. I never test positive. I think I had Covid February 2020 but obviously no test so not 100% sure.

GypsyWanderer · 12/01/2022 12:21

We’ve had it 3 times in the house and me and DH have never caught it. At one point 3 of the kids had it and we never isolated in the house, we were still hugging etc. we are double vaxxed (from July last year) and I’m wondering if we have extra T cells or something. I’ve been researching it because I find it really interesting.

Justcashnosweets · 12/01/2022 12:22

Me, my partner and daughter have never tested positive. Even when I had some symptoms a week ago, I has negative lft's and pcr.

Justcashnosweets · 12/01/2022 12:23

had

Donatella · 12/01/2022 12:26

I've done over 100 LFTs and about half a dozen PCRs, plus 2 antibody tests and have never tested positive, even when my daughter had it and we didn't isolate her. I'm triple jabbed but also work in healthcare and have contact with many people both inside and outside of work 🤷‍♀️

x2boys · 12/01/2022 12:28

My oldest son has had COVID twice ,the second time at Xmas , both boys tested positive,at Xmas I didn't either time but had symptoms at Xmas 🤷

HoollyWugger · 12/01/2022 12:28

Yes, 3 out 4 kids tested positive over Christmas and New Year; OH positive in November, closest work colleagues both positive around the same time; I work with children ... Since Christmas I've had body aches, a constant low level headache, now adding itchy watering eyes and runny nose for the majority of the day. Negative on every single LFT mad PCR.

x2boys · 12/01/2022 12:29

Im also triple jabbed.

GalaPie · 12/01/2022 12:49

Never. Throughout covid I've worked in care homes (close contact role) where both residents and staff have been positive. In my current setting 9/13 residents are testing positive though only 2 have symptoms. Still nowt for me despite daily LFTs and twice weekly PCRs.
I have a few theories - obviously I take PPE and washing very seriously, I am also big on vitamin and mineral supplements, I'm a little overzealous with my dental hygiene and gargling and also I am an unsociable old git who doesn't like to share my gin and spend much time indoors on my sofa watching telly with my gin selection.

GalaPie · 12/01/2022 12:51

Also, no one in my household attends school or college and dh works alone.
It must be very worrying to have 3 kids in education (as I once did) at this time.

MadisonMontgomery · 12/01/2022 12:58

Yeah, despite coming into contact with loads of people with covid, at work and home, both before & after being jabbed, I haven’t ever tested positive or had antibodies on a blood test.

Blubells · 12/01/2022 13:16

Although rare, some people apparently do have an innate immunity to Covid. There's research going on that's looking into why/how that's possible

CalmDownBoris72 · 12/01/2022 14:27

Lots of interesting replies- thanks.

I think I probably do have the virus, I just don’t seems to be able to produce a positive result.

I’m double jabbed, last vaccine in july, 3 days before our household got covid. My booster is booked for next week but I’ll probably delay for a month.. My serum antibodies were 1800 U/mL last month so still fairly high.

Interested in responses to this thread. We all have COVID in October, DH and I are double jabbed but haven't had booster yet. (Will likely have it in the next few weeks.) DD is too young for vaccination. Got strongly exposed to COVID very early this month by a wider family member and have all felt rubbish and a bit 'Covidy' starting a day or two after that. I'm OK now, DH and DD still a bit under the weather. No positive tests to be seen though, including a negative PCR for DD.

My theory is that our immunity was severely tested and we mounted an immune response which made us feel shit, but without technically getting infected. Same sort of thing as post-vaccination, when lots of people feel quite ill for a day or two as the immune system responds to the vaccine.

Can't seem to find anything to support this hypothesis, though!

Obviously this isn't directly related to the OP's question, though, as we have actually all tested positive in the past. (Sorry OP.)

BlibBlabBlob · 12/01/2022 16:26

That should say, we all had COVID in October. We don't appear to currently have COVID. Why oh why doesn't Mumsnet have an edit button?!

vodkaredbullgirl · 12/01/2022 16:28

Never tested positive, looked after covid residents. Worked with carers who did test positive and isolated, still not caught it.

Triple jab here

They also think some colds can give you partial immunity. I'm wondering also if it's just dormant in some people.
stayingaliveisawayoflife · 12/01/2022 16:29

Meeee! I have never had Covid, I am fully vaccinated and boosted and had over 100 tests because of my job but nothing! I have had a mix of LFT, PCR and a blood test one too that said I had not had it.

I am a primary teacher and off today with a sinus infection and am also CV due to disability and chronic illness but there you go. Something is either working or not working however you want to look at it.

Bluebluemoon39 · 12/01/2022 16:32

There are six of us in the house and two dc's have had it (one in may and one in October of last year) but no one else has had it as far as I know (by that I mean we didn't have symptoms so we didn't test).

Both dc's had very mild symptoms too. I think (hopefully) we just have good immune systems.
