Should I have tested?

My DD8 Had covid in November.
Today she looked pale and I did a LF which was positive. I did another and definitely positive.
Most people (including school) seem to be of the view that she had delta in Nov and I was right to test again and she likely had omicron now.
But a friend is saying I shouldn't have tested as it's within 90 days of her testing positive and that I am now isolating her for no reason.

I'm totally confused and despite lots of googling can't find a definitive answer.

Should I be testing within 90 days of her bout of covid from November or not?

Thanks

You did the correct thing and your friend is wrong.

You shouldn't do a PCR test within 90 days of an infection. An antigen (or LF) test is different. That will not show a false positive due to a previous infection the way a PCR will.

This seems to have changed. I was told by test and trace not to use lfts for asymptomatic testing for 90 days. It’s not very likely that an lft will still be positive with the same infection she had in November, especially as she’s unwell now. I would assume that’s a new infection,
Chris Whitty was asked about this during a recent press conference and the message seemed to be using lfts is fine within that 90 days. There doesn’t seem to be any clear guidance online.

Hope she’s better soon.

You did the right thing. My DD had covid in November and her Lfts have been negative since. A blazing positive would be clearly a positive.

Thanks everyone. She's ok atm, just pale and peaky looking!

Even with a PCR, if someone is showing new symptoms within a 90 day period, you still test again.
