How long has he been ill?

Pluckyduck · 11/01/2022 10:43

Hello, have you given calpol or ibruprofen? Is the temp coming down with medicine? Is he weeing as normal? Try him with ice lollies to keep hydrated. You know him best so trust your instincts. I’m sure the doctor will call you back soon.

yayboostered · 11/01/2022 11:04

@hamstersarse he had a positive latral flow yesterday but he's been sleepy since Friday. I'm waiting for pcr to come back. Temp has only started this morming.

@Pluckyduck he's drinking little bit but he keeps complaining of a soar mouth I've looked can't see nothing but can't see his throat. His wee is dark I'm offering him anything the only thing he will drink is pure apple Juice. But not a lot

I would mention the sore throat to the doctor in case it’s a secondary infection like tonsillitis.

Fluids are the most important thing just now. Little and often. Might be worth trying an ice lolly if his throat is sore?

Mamabear12 · 11/01/2022 11:13

Try popsicles as well perhaps?

ZippyZap · 11/01/2022 14:03

Give ibuprofen in between calpol... And maybe half an hour after a dose when it kicks in, try offering juice/lollies while the pain relief is at its highest. Hopefully all the sleeping and high temp will help fight it off

Richtea2 · 11/01/2022 17:14

I hope your little one is better soon.

yayboostered · 11/01/2022 18:00

He's been sleepy all day saying neck and head hurt he's had a little bit of dinner a few mouthfuls. He looks so poorly. I'm keeping temp down but it's the lack of energy he has. It's so upsetting as a mum to watch. I'm just about to pop out and grab him his favourite ice cream I'm hoping that will cheer him up xx

Is there any way you can get a good look in his mouth? A friend of mine had bad mouth ulcers with covid. Sore tongue is another not unknown symptom (no visible sign of that though). Or as a pp said, he could have a sore throat.

Poor kiddo 💔 illness is horrible as a parent but he will get better! His temp is probably making him feel rubbish & sounds like a pretty sore throat maybe!

We had something very similar in summer but following norovirus. My DD who was 18 months was just lifeless. Pale, laid on the sofa, zero energy, sleeping a lot. Refusing to eat or drink. We did end up in hospital for 24 hours but mostly as a precaution.

Let him eat what he wants. My DD was given chocolate bourbons in hospital & it’s the first thing she’d eaten in days! She ate loads of them! We used a calpol syringe to get 5ml of water down her at a time. Ice cream. Ice lolly’s. Yoghurts. Does you little one drink bath water like my 2 year old?! 🙈 cos that was a very random way we got some water down her!

My cousins little one was pretty unwell for 2/3 days & then bounced right on back! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
