Sore tongue?

Batsandhats · 11/01/2022 09:48

Has anyone else had a sore tongue as a symptom of covid? I've had negative lateral flow tests for the last 3 days and no other symptoms but I've had a really sore tongue for 2 days! My kids have got coughs and temperatures so we're awaiting PCR results for them. It's probably unrelated but just wondered if it could be connected?

Yep it was one of my first symptoms. I felt like I had burnt my tongue. So strange!

Anawi · 11/01/2022 17:49

Yes! No one else in my family did but I had a sore burning feeling in my tongue! It has faded but not completely gone yet 2wks later.

Yes me and ds1. It was as though we'd burnt it on hot tea or something. That was alpha though, not omicron.

On the Zoe Covid symptom tracker app a sore tongue is one of the symptoms they have on their tick box list.

I personally didn't get a sore tongue when I had Covid but the fact Zoe have it on their list means that it's a known symptom.

Yep I had a positive lft today and my tongue feels like I’ve burnt it and started yesterday. Fingers crossed for you that it isn’t though.

catchingzzzeds · 11/01/2022 18:02

Yes and I still have it 4 weeks on Confused

eekbumbler · 11/01/2022 18:05

Ooer, I had this a couple of weeks ago. Started at the tip and eventually the burning feeling spread all over. I'd done a couple of lfts in this time as was feeling a bit rubbish anyway but both were negative. I was annoyed because I couldn't eat spicy Nik Naks 🤣

Ladybird69 · 11/01/2022 18:10

EekbumblerI get this regularly as it’s also a symptom of being low in vit B12 and I have to have injections to raise my levels. Could be why you’re feeling rubbish.

eekbumbler · 11/01/2022 18:14

Ah ladybird, you could be on to something as I was diagnosed vitb 12 deficient some years ago. I was only given tablets though... I stopped taking them in the end. Recently though I have been prescribed lansoprazole and having read that I shouldn't be taking if might be low on b12. I have a GP appointment next Tuesday so will bring it up. Thank you!

I’ve a sore tongue, feels like I’ve burnt it on a hot coffee.

Oh bloody hell! I had a sore tongue yesterday and feel a sore throat coming on today along with a headache all day. I had a scratchy throat on Friday so done pcr which was negative. I felt ok over the weekend though.

LadyPenelope68 · 11/01/2022 20:27

@StrangeAddiction
I had a negative lateral flow at 10am on Sunday, but at 4pm on Sunday was a strong positive, was showing a positive line before it had even reached the top of the test strip! Confirmed by PCR.

A work colleague had a sore tongue with covid. She said it was like it was coated too then peeled after a few days. Then very very sensitive!

Bobholll · 11/01/2022 21:16

Yes! And it went on for months. I thought I was going mad, it was like it was burnt. Thankfully seems to have gone away now!

Idontbelieveit14 · 12/01/2022 12:08

I have had a strange tongue since the Christmas holidays, only just tested positive though 🤷🏼‍♀️

daisyjgrey · 26/01/2022 20:44

I got a positive test on NYD and I've had a patch about the size of a 2p in the middle of my tongue that has a weird texture and sensation, like it was burnt, but a few day later ago if that makes sense. Not painful but..weird. My mouth is also noticeably dryer.
