Hi, I had a clearly positive LFT on Saturday morning, went for PCR which was negative. Got cold like symptoms and a cough. Would you take the PCR as the ‘true’ result? Or carry on isolating? Repeat PCR?? Arghhhh!

Do you have symptoms?

A nurse friend had this and only got a positive pcr a few days later through work (she works a cancer ward.) her children had Covid at the time so she was pretty sure the lft was correct.

If you can isolate id do so to be honest, and try to get another pcr tomorrow? Depends if you're work will accept it or not.

Sorry you do have symptoms; I'd treat as Covid .

Yes, cold like symptoms & a cough.

Thanks for the advice - I’ll book another PCR. Although today’s LFT is negative 🤔

Could it be possible I have a ‘touch’ of covid that has eased off?!

Looks like a Flowflex test? It has given false positives to a few people in this board (including one of my kids), so if you have another brand box at home you can try again….but if you have symptoms I’d suggest you book another PcR? Either way, I would isolate, most employers would not want someone around who’s coughing and feeling unwell…

My dd had mild symptoms, positive on lft but pcr came back negative, she was convinced the pcr was wrong so took another and that came back positive.

Thanks, I ordered a home PCR which arrived today so will get that done & stay indoors in the meantime. Bloody covid eh.

We had a friend in dec who had exactly this. Had been v exposed to a positive case (my dh as well who went on to test positive), had positive lft then negative pcr…. Lft still positive next day and second pcr came back negative…. After that lfts were negative and that was that (no symptoms).

He had his booster a month before and we wonder if he could have had a tiny viral load… although it seems to make no sense as I thought pcrs were supposed to be more sensitive?! 😳
