Hi there,

Just curious to know anyone that tested positive after being told they were a close contact.. How long before getting symptoms/testing positive?

TIA

DH coughed (near me) 3.5 days after the pub lunch at which he caught it. Felt fine until 2 days later when he did a test and was positive.

I coughed 3.5 days after his first cough, and tested positive the next day.

HTH

Dp caught it from someone from work who he went on a course with (wouldn't normally have much contact with said colleague). Colleague tested positive on lft the next morning. Dp tested positive 3 days after that... so a few days. I didn't catch it for a week after Dp getting it despite that we didn't isolate from each other...

3.5 days wow so quick.. Hope you're better now x

I was ten days after my DS tested positive and in same house so would’ve thought I may have tested positive sooner. Had been taking daily LFTs prior to the positive test

So strange how different it is for everyone. And to be 10 days despite living together. The whole thing is crazy

FIL got pinged by the app as a close contact on 27 Dec. He started to feel unwell bank holiday Monday, positive PCR on the Tuesday so just over a week from the contact. He couldn't get hold of LFTs so might have tested earlier on that.

Passthecake30 · 09/01/2022 19:36

Dp got a positive LFT 4 days before me.

DS2 has been to school 3 days and is positive today.

I don’t know if this thing is crazy, or if there is not a certain level of imprecision embedded into the choice of letting everybody self test, in this country. I feel fairly comfortable with doing the test to myself and the kids, after one year, but having seen how others to the tests abroad…the kits we have must be super sensitive to pick up the antigens at the bottom of the nostrils. Everywhere else they were rummaging quite a way higher up my nose ;-) even with the same sort of LFT…

3 days after seeing the close contact. Just shy of 72hrs after their visit (they had a negative lateral flow on the morning of their visit but were positive the following morning).

Bagelsandbrie · 09/01/2022 19:45

About 3 days.

JessicaKenny2018 · 09/01/2022 20:12

Dd was 6 days from contact

LucozadeGirl · 09/01/2022 20:55

I was pinged as a contact. My friend tested positive on 30/12. Touch wood I'm still negative so assume I'm in the clear!

StressyWoman · 09/01/2022 21:00

I tested positive 3 days after contact.

Hairbrush123 · 09/01/2022 21:59

DH has just finished his ten days and I never caught it. I did daily lateral flow tests and a PCR the day after his self isolation. Came back negative. I’m guessing he had omicron as he had all the symptoms of it.

Luckymummytoone · 09/01/2022 22:00

3 days for me and my son x

HELPNEEDHELP12398765 · 09/01/2022 22:10

2 days for me to have symptoms, but my PCR on day 4 was negative, had a very faint positive Lft on day 6 and a positive pcr on day 7

Mamabear12 · 10/01/2022 07:10

seems to be 4 days in our case

pansiesareyellow · 10/01/2022 09:23

I tested positive 12 days after my DH tested positive

pansiesareyellow · 10/01/2022 09:24

I felt ill before that though, just kept coming up negative...
