PCR back in under 3 hours

Hi, I had a PCR test at 11:30 this morning and I got my results (negative, phew!) at 2:20. Is it normal for results to be back in under 3 hours? They said I'd be likely to get them tomorrow. Maybe I've just had excellent service!

BIL had one in 2 hours a couple of weeks ago. I hadn’t heard of anyone else having it back that fast but I guess it happens occasionally.

Impressive! Must have just timed it right with collections/deliveries to the lab Smile

We had to do a few tests over Christmas, our best one, I POSTED it in the post box at 11.30am and received the results at 10.15pm that night! I thought that was amazingly fast for a postal test!

The two times I had to do a PCR many months ago was in a drive through test Center. At the end the bag was placed into a bucket so there can't have been a sorted line so maybe you got lucky and just happened to be at the top of the pile.
