My nephew has just got Covid. He's 30 and unvaccinated despite me telling him he should be ! Really worried in case he gets is badly. Has anyone else had it and not been vaccinated? How bad where you ?

In 2020 nobody was vaccinated and lots and lots of people got Covid.

Juniper68 · 08/01/2022 19:39

I had it November 2020.

Bobholll · 08/01/2022 19:43

I had covid aged 31 in Dec 2020. It was FAR milder pre-vaccines than it was post-vaccines in Oct 21! Barely a cold in 2020. I was pretty unwell in 2021 (not seriously, just felt grim). I know loads of people who had it late 2020 before vaccines. Age 30 is young & very few need hospital. You see the odd horror story on the news but in reality, these are the minority. Omicron is milder as well. How is he feeling?

PinkiOcelot · 08/01/2022 19:49

DD1 has had it twice now. She is unvaccinated. She’s been absolutely fine. Felt a bit off and tired but that’s about it. Compared to me who currently has covid and is triple vaccinated. I feel absolutely ill.

Thanks all I love him to bits and would hate to see him really poorly.

But it's not your fault if he's really poorly. He could be vaccinated but chooses not to be.

VanLife · 08/01/2022 19:58

30 ..Unvaccinated.. covid in Nov.. I've had worse colds..

Threecrookedhearts · 08/01/2022 21:09

I'm 50 and unvaccinated and currently on day 8. It's not been bad at all. Just like a mild cold. Certainly nothing that I've been worried about.

Kara198 · 08/01/2022 22:17

I'm double jabbed and just had covid and was really poorly with it. I have many friends and colleagues who have had no vaccination that have breezed through their Covid experience, and seeing how bad I was sealed it for them that they made the right choice.
I have no idea what to think anymore!

bumblefeline · 08/01/2022 23:00

I'm extremely fat, lazy and had it unvaccinated. I'm still alive.

Hope he gets well soon.

massiveblob · 08/01/2022 23:03

It's v hard to predict. Omicron in generally mild. Risk is higher if obese.

Thievesoil · 08/01/2022 23:21

My DH. He is very middle aged but healthy. Two days and he was fine

Don’t stress!

He is really unlikely to be seriously ill unless specifically vulnerable so it's not something to stress about. He might have already had it and been completely unaware.

It would be better for him to be vaccinated than not (which I'm guessing you already know), but statistically the risks are very low for someone of that age.

lollipoprainbow · 09/01/2022 12:01

@Bobholll he has a headache and is achy and weak.

OP posts:
Narutocrazyfox · 09/01/2022 12:10

I've had it twice and I'm mid 40s. Was very mild, like a cold. Both times I was fully recovered within 5 days. Hope your nephew is OK x

Buzzinwithbez · 09/01/2022 12:15

44 - 3 days of sinusitis plus a few days of feeling wobbly after. Nothing worrying but frustrating enough waiting an extra week to feel I had my fitness levels back.
Symptoms milder as a cold, but colds don't make me feel weak and wobbly after in general. All good now Smile

My son (20's) had it before vaccinations started. He did feel really rough for a week but was ok.
