Feel terrible but negative PCR

Have all the symptoms associated with Covid - aches and pains, cough, temp, headache etc but lateral flow and pcr done yesterday are negative . Is it too early do you think or just another flu type virus? I work in health care so obviously do not want to be passing anything onto those CV. Will be cautious all the same and maybe continue daily lateral flows in case before back to work next week.

All the symptoms associated with covid are all synonyms associated with the myriad of other illnesses that float about each winter! We seem to have forgotten any others exist.

I didn't test positive on LFT for two days despite having Covid. My initial symptoms were headache, backache and feeling cold.

WheelieBinPrincess · 08/01/2022 17:08

If you have a negative PCR I’d be taking that at face value.

SantaMonicaPier · 08/01/2022 17:08

I was the same. First PCR negative then about a week later very strong line on an LFT followed by positive PCR

HoldingTheDoor · 08/01/2022 17:11

I had symptoms but was negative on PCR and LFs then a few days later I tested positive on both. Other viruses are available but I'd test again in a few days as a precaution.

MrsFezziwig · 08/01/2022 17:12

Over the last few weeks several people I know (including myself) have had horrible colds which basically included more or less the entire list of Covid symptoms. Everyone has done multiple LFTs and some have had PCRs. Not one person positive (and the colds were not caught from each other).

Sayitisnotso · 08/01/2022 17:44

Thanks, yes indeed there are so many bugs around that could be any number of them- we are so COVID aware that everything is associated to it or makes us panic we have it. Will not be in contact with anyone until I feel better at least and will continue the LFTs over next few days to be sure. Have to do this for work anyway!

You took a PCR yesterday and have the results already?

liveforsummer · 08/01/2022 17:49

My symptoms came on quickly and I tested within an hour of it. Dark line came up immediately so booked PCR which was unsurprisingly positive. Day 5 now and lone still darker than the control. If multiple tests are negative I'd assume it's another virus. Plenty exist

WheelieBinPrincess · 08/01/2022 17:49

@JanglyBeads DH posted a PCR in time for a 9am collection and had the results the following afternoon.

They normally come back the next day!
Rushhomeroad · 08/01/2022 17:59

I tested negative on LFT on first and second day of illness. A PCR on day 3 also negative. Continued daily LFT as felt so ill and finally got a positive on day 6. PCR confirmed the next day.

I had the same symptoms and had a negative pcr. A few days later when I felt fine again I had a positive pcr. I had been isolating in the interim period as I suspected I had it.

Sayitisnotso · 08/01/2022 19:29

Thanks everyone, yes did test at 4pm and results through at 3:00am which is the quickest We have ever had them back. Yes will continue the testing over next few days and have made arrangements to avoid patients in work at start of week at least- if I’m feeling ok to go in that is.
