Unable to see availability before cancelling

Has anyone else encountered this glitch?

I am convinced that there is an error in one of my DC’s profile on the vaccination system. It has only ever offered random far flung appointments, even when I could book locally for myself and other DC. After trying for weeks, I finally went with the nearest offered, which is still bloody miles away.

When I try to manage the booking, even though the “manage booking” page says I’ll be shown availability of other appointments (and even though this has worked when I’ve been doing it for the rest of the family) it skips straight through to confirm cancellation

Tried it on other devices, so it’s not a cookie problem.

119 have been as much use as a chocolate fireguard, won’t tell me if there is any way of checking things out or even looking at local availability.

We’re now having to do a 60 mile round trip even though I know for a fact that there are 10 closer centres which are taking bookings

Confused. We’ll do it, because he needs the vaccine, but it is so bloody frustrating.

No, we’re in a bit of blind spot for walk ins and there isn’t one any nearer than the booked appointment

Meanwhile his two younger sisters have both been jabbed in the last 10 days at two of the centres within 3 miles of home Confused

And it’s not down to current availability-I’ve been trying this on and off since October (still not jabbed due to Covid infection and then rule changes), and he’s never been offered anywhere locally.

In the meantime between the rest of us we’ve had seven vaccines all at the nearby centres and without any problem

I think that is the norm with the system, not a glitch.

In my area, availability is plentiful with walk ins (DS walked in last week and was the only person there) as well as pre-booked availability so I would just cancel.

CooDeGrass · 08/01/2022 16:54

Honestly, I think it is a glitch - it works differently for him than it has done for any of the rest of us.

Availability has generally always been good here, except for him. I don’t want to risk cancelling and then find we have to go even further afield

It’s not the end of the world for us - thankfully we can drive - and I am grateful generally for how well the vaccines have been rolled out, I’m just frustrated at how difficult this is (probably because all of the rest of the family haven’t experienced anything like this).

Is it possibly something to do with the vaccine type/make he needs?

You need to cancel and start the entire thing again.

Of you just rebook it shows you within X miles of the current booking, not your home.

Then check his address is correct. Just cancel and start again.

I tried to rearrange my son's appointment to see if there was anything sooner. It does clearly say you will be shown other availability before the appointment is cancelled. Then it cancels it! Without showing anything else. I thankfully managed to rebook the same appointment again.
Tried to go to a massive walk in place last week and was turned away. Apparently they stop doing walk ins an hour before the advertised closing time bur fail to say so.
Very annoying. Fingers crossed my son has an appointment tomorrow!

what age is he? near me there are far fewer booking sites available online for 12-15 than 16/17 year olds (although dozens of walk in places that do both)
