Would you use priority PCR test for these symptoms?

Have been sent the PCR test so that I can take anti-viral medicine if I test positive. Since last night I have a sore throat, cold-like symptoms with bunged up nose and a headache. Did an LFT last night and this morning (and swabbed my throat as well as up nose) and both have come back negative.

Would you use the priority test? Will I get sent another if I use this one and it comes back negative or do I only get given the one? Should I just book a standard PCR instead? It’s all so confusing!!

I would hope they've factored in automatically replacing PCR tests that come back negative when they designed the system.

If not, you should be able to call 119 (the number you call if your test is missing /damaged) to order another.

I would use it.

For example you can participate in the Panoramic study (to access molnupiravir) with the following symptoms:

Do you have symptoms of COVID-19 at the moment
These symptoms may include, but are not limited to, a new continuous cough, high temperature, loss of or change in your normal taste or sense of smell, sore throat, shortness of breath, general feeling of being unwell, muscle pain, diarrhoea and vomiting.

I think for people such as you where a confirmation has much more significance you should set the bar relatively low for testing.
