Feeling so unwell 😢

Day 11 today after having a positive PCR test. I'm not getting better if anything I'm getting worse.

My symptoms include tight chest, horrendous sore throat with neck glands all swollen, worsening cough & awful headache. Generally feel agitated. Ive been awake since 4am with horrendous pain between my shoulder pain.

I've had awful sleep for the past 4 nights constantly waking up.

I'm late 30s, double jabbed with no underlying medical conditions.

Surely I should be getting better by now!?!!

Unfortunately some people are more I'll than others. I hope you are able to properly rest?

Do you have a pulse oximeter? If not order one for quick delivery and keep an eye on that.

Keep up with fluids, painkillers, whatever you can eat and sleep. Is someone looking after you? Flowers

PatchworkSilver · 08/01/2022 06:33

If you are worried call for advice... when I had couch I was told some people can get worse after 10 days. Its a horrible illness, so I echo the above above and hope you are on the up soon x

Daisydoor12 · 08/01/2022 07:09

Maybe you have a secondary infection seek advice from GP or NHS 111 (assuming you are England)

Remaker · 08/01/2022 07:13

I read a post from an Emergency medicine specialist recently who said that covid patients are generally admitted to hospital on day 3-4 or on day 11. Try to get your hands on an oximeter and don’t hesitate to seek medical advice.

Tempnamelady · 08/01/2022 07:15

I had a secondary bacterial infection after 7 days and was terribly unwell, GP prescribed horse pill antibiotics. I would suggest you seek advice. Hope you feel better soon.

Tara336 · 08/01/2022 07:19

I tested positive on 10th December I had a few very bad days then slowly started recovering but I still don’t feel well now, I have a horrendous cough, tight chest and a burning feeling in my lungs that started last night. I am taking immune suppression drugs so I’m feeling worried now, I’m going to try and see or speak to my Dr on Monday

MrsG010814 · 08/01/2022 07:24

I would call and get advice from gp or 111. I know a couple of people who had secondary infections after covid like chest infections etc. They may prescribe you something to help. Hope you feel better soon.

Roundglasses · 08/01/2022 10:13

Sounds like you need antibiotics as it may be a secondary infection now.

Porcupineintherough · 08/01/2022 10:19

Check your blood o2 but what you are describing sounds like a classic case of cv to me. It's not mild or "just like a bad cold" for everyone. I would expect you to be on the road to recovery by day 14, feeling quite a bit better but easily tired by day 21. And as you've had a proper bad dose of it, you will really need to have a convalescence period (ie take it easy for a few weeks to give your body a chance to recover). It really can be quite vicious.

Shitlooking · 08/01/2022 11:33

Thank you everyone. I'm going to try & ride it out until Monday then see my GP if no better.

Feel horrendous, my lips are all cracked & bleeding & this headache is vile (over my right eye).

Days 1-5 felt ok so was surprised I had covid but days 5-11 progressively worse

My DH & DD have had very mild symptoms (both positive too)

According to my Fitbit my oxygen levels are 94% & heart rate 110.

Porcupineintherough · 08/01/2022 11:36

Ok if your o2 drops below 94 contact your gp/111. Below 92 ring 999. But hopefully neither will be necessary, you are "just" experiencing the real COVID, gloves off. Nasty little beast.

Abraxan · 08/01/2022 11:38

It may be worth you speaking to the doctor about symptoms, as covid can lead to secondary infections and also can have complications which can affect organs such as heart, lungs or lead to issues with blood pressure, etc.

Shitlooking · 08/01/2022 11:59

Was thinking last night how unwell I could potentially have been without the vaccine!

hellsbells99 · 08/01/2022 12:04

DH’s oxygen levels dropped to 93 and he felt really rough on about day 7. He spoke to his GP and they prescribed him steroids and he is feeling better now. Cracked lips sound like you might be a dehydrated. Are you drinking lots of fluids? I would ring 111 and get seen by a doctor.

rrhuth · 08/01/2022 12:08

According to my Fitbit my oxygen levels are 94% & heart rate 110.

You need medical advice today if your oxygen levels remain at 94%

See this page for guidance: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/how-to-treat-symptoms-at-home/

Do not piss about with low oxygen levels.

pintsizeprincess · 08/01/2022 12:30

Sounds similar to me and I've been prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection. They've definitely helped me. It could be you need a course of antibiotics to help with a secondary infection. Please ring 111 for advice or your Gp.. I would recommend ringing 111 sooner rather than later as it can take over an hour to be answered sometimes. Hope you feel better soon

SweetMidWinter · 08/01/2022 12:39

This sound terrifying Thanks.

I hope that GPs won't hesitate to prescribe AB in this case, they are so, so, so reluctant to hand them out these days.

Shitlooking · 08/01/2022 12:47

Im at home with my 4 year-old & 11 month old as DH is at work Im reluctant to call 111 in case they want to see me. I cant take my boys with me 😳 I'll have to ring later when he's home.

Ive got some amoxicillin that I had recently (for a tooth infection) would there be any harm In taking them?

Never take unprescribed medication, it could mess up any medication they need to prescribe you.

When is your husband home?

If your oxygen level is stil 94% you really do need to prioritise your health.

Awakened22 · 08/01/2022 13:14

I’d phone now - chances are they’ll need to arrange a call back which can take a few hours. If they want to see you at a time that doesn’t work you can just say no…unless they think it’s urgent in which case your husband should head straight home.

Andacherryonthetop · 08/01/2022 13:17

You need to phone the dr regarding your oxygen levels being 94

Porcupineintherough · 08/01/2022 13:18

If they think its urgent then they'll send the paramedics out to the OP.

Porcupineintherough · 08/01/2022 13:25

Sorry, to be clear, the paramedics can come out and assess you. They wont just whisk you away. I dont think you should start taking antibiotics without medical advice. If its COVID rather than a secondary infection then you may need steroids- but a doctor can tell you that.

Munchyseeds · 08/01/2022 13:33

If I were you I'd call 111 sooner rather than later for advice, I wouldn't put it off til later
Hope you feel better soon
