Can anyone explain the advice on ventilation to me. There’s so much out there about Windows/doors/open for 10 mins/ constantly Open but just a crack/Air exchanges per hour/ measure co2 levels and keep under 1000 etc.

Id be really interested in the science behind it all. What is the safest way to do it?

Is there any research or articles on explaining the safest way to do this? I’ve tried google it but not found what I’m looking for.

This doesn't exactly answer your question but might help a bit. Section 8 addresses windows and 9.3, among all the numbers, comments on window opening.

I'm not sure, but my friend has a monitor and I was quite surprised that within 10 mins of three of us sitting in her small living room chatting, with doors and windows shut, the monitor moved quickly from up to around 800. We opened the window and it went to about 400. It was pretty cold though!
