Testing on return (UK)

Hi, since the travel rules have changed im struggling to find if DH needs to do a day 2 lft on return to UK from Germany. He had covid in December so is still in the 90 days of 'don't test unless you get new symptoms'. The only things I can find on the gov website say everyone that's fully vac needs to test. It isn't mentioned what to do if you've recently had covid. Does anyone know? Links if possible.

He certainly needs to buy one so he has a code for the PLF.
No one checks if you actually take it.

I thought you had to send a photo? He'll do whatever he needs to do, we just thought after having covid the rule was to not test for 90 days. Nothing makes sense

The rules have for months been quite clear that you must do a test if you are returning from abroad and you do a test if you have new symptoms, regardless of whether or not you've had Covid.

From 9 January the day 2 test can be lateral flow, before that, PCR.

It's all on the gov.uk website.

Thank you for clarifying. I wasn't sure if you had to test on returning to UK if you had recently had covid and couldn't find the specifics on the website as it doesn't mention what to do if you've recently had covid. Also haven't travelled out of the UK during pandemic so wanted to check we wasn't missing anything.

Thank you for confirming what we'd read it as.

We went abroad last year when the rule was LFT on day 2. We bought the tests and did them but reporting on them was laborious so we gave up and waited for an email asking for our results. Still waiting.
