Feel atrocious after Moderna booster

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 05/01/2022 23:27

Had Moderna booster earlier this afternoon and feel crap - achy, tired, nauseous and a cracking headache.

I’m just wondering how long this could last or is that like asking how long is a piece of string Grin as I have a v important interview Friday morning and need to not feel this awful!

No idea if any reference but I the had J&J jab for my first vaccine and had no side effects..is this a Moderna thing or just a me thing!

I did too after two Pfizers. I actually cried (tbf I am in my third trimester).

But it was only truly terrible for one night and a bit crap for 24 hrs in total. Right as rain after that and feel stronger than ever now 💪.

Good luck with your interview!

MissM2912 · 05/01/2022 23:52

Same after two Pfizer’s. Worst of the three. My neck and arm in agony. I was on co-codomol for 48 hours ish

Ulelia · 05/01/2022 23:52

36 hours after moderna. Then was right as rain!

Annaghgloor · 05/01/2022 23:52

My peak of feeling awful was between 24 and 36 hrs after I had the Moderna booster, and I was fine again within three days.

L0ndonGirl · 05/01/2022 23:58

I struggled with horrible covid-like symptoms which sound similar to yours between 12 and 36 hours after moderna booster - then it was just a sore arm for another couple of days

Mindymomo · 06/01/2022 08:31

My adult DS had moderna after 2 doses of Pfizer, he had to come home from work next day and slept the rest of day, he was fine the next day. 3 other family members had moderna this week and are fine, just sore arm.

anotherbrewplease · 06/01/2022 08:43

Do you still feel as bad after 2 paracetemols?

sofakingcool · 06/01/2022 08:47

I'm feeling crap after my Pfizer booster on Tuesday afternoon. Yesterday was awful, fever so I was really shivery - made my achiness even more painful!! Woken this morning with awful nausea, pleased it's my day off

Scottishgirl85 · 06/01/2022 08:48

I felt awful after moderna booster. Lasted about 30 hours then suddenly felt normal again! Not been that ill in ages! Good luck for Friday.

ThursdayLastWeek · 06/01/2022 08:50

Ditto, I felt off for a little over 24hrs. A couple of paracetamol the following morning and a walk sorted me right out

Wickywoo1984 · 06/01/2022 09:11

I had a Moderna booster yesterday morning. Previously had AZ, some side effects after first but nothing after second. Feeling pretty rough now. Woke up with the shakes during night and couldn't get warm despite additional blankets and socks. Had to get up make a hot water bottle and take 2 paracetamol- both helped. Have sent dc to school and back in bed. I have aches all over my body, even in my fingers, back and chest. Sore and heavy arm. Hoping it passes soon as I have a really busy work day tomorrow.

WeatherwaxOn · 06/01/2022 09:14

Had modern on Tuesday having previously had 2x AZ. I loaded up on multivitamins on Sunday, and have continued to boost them. Took paracetamol 4h before my jab and immediately afterwards.
Had a sore arm (still do), and a headache yesterday as well as feeling tired.
I was expecting to feel much worse.

WeatherwaxOn · 06/01/2022 09:15

*moderna

JohannSebastianBach · 06/01/2022 09:29

I had J&J and felt rough for 24 hours.
I then had a full dose of moderna as where I live (EU country) they decided that J&J only counts as one dose now. Apparently evidence now shows it doesn't provide full protection.
Felt really ill for around 48 hours. High temperature, aches and pains, tired and yuck.
I had Covid in March 2020.
Due a booster in March (oh joy).

Bagelsandbrie · 06/01/2022 09:30

Felt rough for about 24 hours after my Moderna booster.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 06/01/2022 09:30

I felt unwell for about a week after the moderne booster. DH had his on same day and was exactly the same. We both had AZ vaccines before with only a mild overnight reaction to the first and no reaction to the second.

TheKeatingFive · 06/01/2022 09:39

I was ropy for 24 hours after the moderna booster, then fine.

Sportslady44 · 06/01/2022 13:29

Bedsheets4knickers · 06/01/2022 17:09

Puts you off doesn't it? I've worked out the only times I've been ill this last year have all been Covid related - either having the virus itself or the hideous side effects of the vaccine.

I am holding out hope that it's worth doing though..

Janedownourlane · 06/01/2022 17:31

Had moderna after 2 AZ and feelt rough for about 24 hours. The headache was the last to go and it was mostly bearable although the night shivering was horrid.
Hope you feel better soon.

PinkBuffalo · 06/01/2022 17:34

I had that after Moderna booster! Was fine after my original two Pfizer ones. I really regretted getting the booster I hurt all over the following night and day and my arm in particular was excruciating pain
However by the Second night and since I have felt a lot better so I promise it does get better 💐

Simplelobsterhat · 06/01/2022 18:07

Dh and I both had moderna last week, both felt crap between 12 and 24 hours after but manageable with paracetemol, aand then both back to normal (apart from tired from crap nights sleep) less than 36 hours after jab.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 06/01/2022 18:10

Felt awful all night but better by lunchtime thankfully. Still not 100%…or 75%…but getting there.

Sorry so many of you felt so crap with it!

I will say though, having had covid pre vaccine, I would happily take an annual 48h then the 2 week period I thought I could die from this!

I was three days before I felt better. Keep taking paracetamol regularly and it keeps the aches and shivers away. Mine came back dead on 4 hrs since the last dose.
