PCR test

Was showing symptoms over the weekend - runny nose, cough and sore throat. Managed to order a LFT that I took on Monday, tested positive, But today I feel fine.

Ordered PCR that came today and has been sent back in the post - it says 24 hours tracked. I've heard stories that people are having to wait over a week for the results.

What are the chances they PCR will come back positive?
Has anyone else had this and what was your PCR result?
How long did you have to wait for the results?

Sorry for the many questions - I lost one elderly family member last year and naturally am anxious about this whole mess now I could potentially have it.

Hope everyone is ok

Thank you in advance

If your lateral flow is positive you almost certainly have COVID especially if you have symptoms

I had similar symptoms, tested negative for days then when due back at work on Tuesday my lateral flow showed positive. Managed to get walk in PCR at 10.30am, and got the results back early this evening - so 30 hours later. Not surprisingly it's positive.

Working out the isolation period is a bit more complex ...registering the code on the app, following the various links on the gov. website, advising on track and trace stuff etc etc. What a nightmare! Gov website still says 10 days isolation, but only clicking through the various links explains that if you get negative LFT tests on days 6 & 7 and do not have symptoms then you can be released from isolation.
Honestly they make everything so complicated! I don't think I'm stupid ( and maybe I'm overthinking it] but I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't even bother to read everything!
