Mixed up PCR tests - Help!

My 6 year old DD was very unwell on Monday, gave her an LFT and had an immediate positive, myself and my husband both came back negative but we all booked PCRs for yesterday along with my DM who had spent all weekend with us.

I completed my test and my daughters test squished between 2 car seats in the back of the car and in the confined space I have clearly mixed up our samples. Our results have come back this morning as me positive and everyone else negative - clearly mine and my daughters results have been mixed up.

What do I do? I presume I need to call 119 for advice and they'll likely want us to retest?

Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice?

Seems a bit unlikely given that you do one test at a time.

We did ours at the same time this week, it would be easy to mix them up!

Yes OP tell t&t but you may need to isolate anyway as you're in the system. Order your DD a postal PCR and test her again.

Retest your DD just to be safe.

Cupcakegirl13 · 05/01/2022 06:52

Just retest you and your daughter 🤨

KiloWhat · 05/01/2022 06:52

Test you and your daughter again.

The advice will be to retest everyone & all isolate until correct results received I’m afraid.

That's what I thought. I've booked us new PCRs today and will call T&T when they open at 7. I found an older post on here where the same thing had happened and T&T corrected the records after the retest.

As DD will have to isolate I'll have to stay home with her regardless so we are isolating, that's not the issue. But school and work, both due back today, will want proof from test results.

The results were mixed up as I did mine first, put it down, did DDs, then must have picked them up in the wrong order. Showed the guy the vials through the window and then passed them out of the window clearly in the wrong order when they asked for them. When you have a child who is freaking out from the test it's incredibly stressful in a confined space of the middle seat of the back of a car.

I was in a slightly similar situation in the summer. TT&T wouldn't budge. I tried hard.

Our family do monthly PCR and antibody tests for the ONS.

On the day that we were visited DH was on day 3 of having Covid, I didn't have it (and was on a "test to release" pilot, testing daily). The interviewer muddled the PCR tests up when it came to logging them so I was told to isolate and DH was advised that he had a negative PCR.

Hope your daughter feels better soon.

Spoke to T&T, the test team can't help, call back at 8 for the trace team.

We both have to isolate anyway as can't leave a 6 year old, however both work and school will need the correct results so need to retest even if they can't change the initial results.
