Positive LFT / Negative PCR

Hi all,

First time poster. I have had 3 consecutive LFTs (over 3 days) with a faint positive result, but my PCR result has shown negative. I am unable to attach a photo as a new member.

I have been isolating since the first positive lateral flow, although am not experiencing any covid symptoms.

Does anybody have a similar experience? I am unsure which test result to trust.

Thanks in advance.

To add, the 3 tests included two different LFT brands, and my partners tests from the same boxes are negative.

I think if you’ve had 3 positive LFT you do have covid, your PCR may have been too soon or too late. You could do another PCR test, or just continue to isolate and do further LFT on days 6 and 7 to come out of isolation. There is talk about not needing to do PCR tests in the future, if you get positive LFT and you isolate as required and assume you do have covid.

Why did you do 3 LFTs was it for work? If so they'll let you know if they want you in or not. Maybe redo the PCR?

They are now saying they may take a positive lft as a confirmed case and no need to take pcr so in that case you’d be isolating. An announcement will be made later.
Ive heard of a few positive lfts then neg pcrs, I’d take the pcr as it’s more sensitive, but who knows 🤷‍♀️
If you feel ill I’d isolate either way.

Thanks all. I was testing for work, yes. I'll keep isolating and doing lateral flows, just incase I'm an asymptomatic case that the PCR didn't detect.
