Financial support when positive

I’ve been really poorly today and after a LFT both myself and DD are positive. We will be doing PCR tomorrow. I am a single parent on universal credit to top up my earnings. In my current teaching job I am not on a fixed term contract so I am not eligible for sick pay. I get paid the hours I work.

Has anybody successfully received the £500 covid grant? Is there any other financial support? I’m worried that having this time off work is going to put me in financial difficulty.

Hello.
I thought no it is sometimes a bit of a headache applying for the £500. Try and apply through your local council.
The other thing you may be able to look at or in addition is the household support fund Each council administers the grant differently but if you search your local council and household support fund it should bring up the information and application process.
For example my council allows you to apply directly.
The household support fund is the money central government gave to local governments when they cut the £20 uplift.
