Is this normal? - Booster

I had my Pfizer booster on Friday. I had AZ for the first 2.
I felt crap for a few days which I expected but now I am left with really swollen lymph nodes in my armpit. They really hurt and the armpit is twice the size as my other. The side of my boob also hurts. Is this normal? Or is it something I should be concerned about 5 days later?

I have no idea but maybe book a GP appointment and get it checked? Not that it’s necessarily anything to worry about but I would just get it checked…

Pepperama · 04/01/2022 23:07

I did get a swollen and painful lymph node in my armpit and was told it’s a normal if not that common reaction. It was the only thing I got apart from feeling a bit icky on day 1. It resolved after 3-4 days so wasn’t quite as long as yours. Hope yours makes an exit quickly too.

Thepowerofthelook · 04/01/2022 23:14

I think it may be, I had az first two, then Pfizer booster. Only had this with booster and was a bit concerned so Googled it to find it did seem to be a thing (mine lasted about a week).

Ok thanks for the replies. I'll give it a few more days and if they haven't settled maybe I'll speak to the GP

I have been googling and it says it's an uncommon reaction. I also read a study that said it could be an indication that you have had COVID before, but I don't think I have

Yes it happened to my after my first phizer, my left arm pit is still more puffy than my right. I rang the Dr’s after a few months and they asked me to attend for a physical examination, all fine. But still best to have checked.

I have this too after the Moderna booster. When I looked at the information leaflet they gave me it was listed as one of the main side effects.

CatherineCawood · 04/01/2022 23:42

My DD (19 yrs old) had 2 x AZ followed by a Pfizer booster. She had a terribly swollen armpit for a few days.

Before anyone tells me that she didn't have AZ because she is 19, she did because she had it before they banned it for under 40's as she was a volunteer vaccinator for St John Ambulance.

Hope you feel better soon OP.

DirectionToPerfection · 04/01/2022 23:45

My DP had this for about 3 days after Moderna.

wizzler · 04/01/2022 23:45

I had this. No other side effects except large swelling from left armpit 48 hours after vaccine. It went down again after a couple of days

pinkoneblueone · 05/01/2022 01:21

I had this three days after my 2nd Pfizer vaccine, it settled down after a day

KiloWhat · 05/01/2022 08:06

A bit of swelling but if it's actually twice the size that sounds extreme

ItsSnowJokes · 05/01/2022 08:11

I had a third boob growing under my armpit after Pfizer, the swelling was huge. A very common reaction and can last about 3 weeks.

tintodeverano2 · 05/01/2022 08:11

I had this after my first dose. Pfizer. It lasted about 10 days. It was horrible.

alwaysscared · 05/01/2022 10:39

Thanks everyone, I'll keep an eye on it. It's not hurting so much today but still swollen

I’ve just had mine so this is from the leaflet - it’s in uncommon but that still means up to 1/100 can get it.

I had this too with the Pfizer booster. It came up two days after the jab and has almost gone at 7 days after. Just have a small lump on my arm which is itchy now. Husband had it same time and no issues at all.

delilahbucket · 05/01/2022 14:44

I've had this as well. I had Pfizer for my first too and was fine, Pfizer for my third and very painful lymph nodes in that armpit. The actual injection hurt too this time. Mine started on day two, I'm now on day five and it is settling down. I understand it is a perfectly normal reaction to any vaccine.

alwaysscared · 05/01/2022 23:03

Thanks. It's still swollen but doesn't hurt much now

Had moderna booster on Monday and after about 12 hours exactly the same thing happened to me. Today under arm feels less tender but still a bit puffy.
